    Hi Jeff,
SwiftKey does support double tap space bar to insert a period. You'll need to enable it in SwiftKey settings, typing, typing & auto-correct, toggle on "quick period". And it will auto cap the next letter.
As for press and hold a key, SwiftKey uses it as an access to the long-press keys, aka secondary keys, to insert letters with accent, some symbols, and some punctuations. For capitalizing a letter, please use shift key, that's what it for.

    Hi Alpert,

Thanks for the response. Regarding the double-tap spacebar, I wasn't clear so my apologies for that. I was aware of the setting, but it doesn't appear to be working on the Keyone, so I thought it was perhaps something that SwiftKey needs to add support for explicitly. Or it may just be a bug, but either way, toggling that setting on/off doesn't seem to do anything.

Regarding the long-press for caps request - I understand the shift key does this, but not nearly as efficiently as a long press. Having said that, being able to long press a key to get a capital is significantly faster than having to press two buttons every time. And given the frequency I use capital letters compared to secondary keys, I think this is a reasonable change to ask for (at least as an option I can turn on).

As I said initially, these two behaviors drive me back to the Blackberry keyboard, even though the SwiftKey prediction engine is so much better.

These two changes (one fix and one enhancement) would give me the best of both worlds and help keep SwiftKey the most efficient option out there (I have tried them all!).

    Thanks.

    JR

    Thanks for the details, Jeff.
If I understood correctly, when you say double tap on space bar the period won't be inserted, it means you're using the BlackBerry physical keyboard space bar. Is that correct? I need as many details as possible, it could give our devs more help for detecting and fixing the issue.

For capitalization problem, I think you have reasons. But more users of SwiftKey like having long-press for symbols, which is very convenient too. Here is the feature request channel: https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115002439689-How-to-submit-a-Feature-Request
You can add the details like you just replied to me in the request, to explain why you need it. Our team members will take notes of that.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Hi Alpert,

My apologies for taking so long to respond. I had intended to snooze this for a few days, not nearly a month!

At any rate, the double space tap isn't producing a period (and then case caps) when using the physical keyboard on the Blackberry Keyone. If I force the virtual keyboard to appear, the double-tap space bar functionality works as expected.

I will submit the feedback regarding the press-and-hold option using the link you provided.

    Thanks for the help.

I also have the same issue.

Using the Swiftkey Keyboard enabled (version 6.6.5.31) and the "Quick period" radio button enabled, double pressing on the Blackberry Keyone physical keyboard's spacebar does not result in a "." symbol. The result is two [space] entries "  ".

Additionally, after punctuation, the next letter is not capitalized. This is evident after manually selecting a full-stop by using alt+M on the physical keyboard and then a [space] using the spacebar. I confirmed that the "Auto capitalize" radio button is enabled in Swiftkey settings.

Lastly, when starting to type a new message the first letter is not auto-capitalized, but must be performed manually (I use shift, then the letter, on the physical keyboard). I don't see a specific radio button for this within the settings, so I assume auto-capitalize should be the default behavior.

I use swiftkey for A very long time and keyone physical keyboard isn't so efficient with swiftkey. Why you guys just gave this up. Double tab to space etc very important.
