This annoys me too. It messes up ip addresses under certain circumstances.

    192.168.0.1

    becomes

    192. 168...

    which is rejected.

Ok, it seems like Swiftkey isn't listening to their users.

It's probably time to switch to Swype, which does have the option to turn off the auto space.

Came here for the same reason. The auto space drives me insane. It's literally the only reason I keep switching away from SwiftKey. It completely screws things up when I'm typing file names, email addresses, usernames, etc. I periodically come back to using it and wondering why I ever quit. Then I hit the auto space issue and it all comes back. It's so frustrating that I can't use it. Maybe you all should put a fun "time lost due to backspacing" stat in the settings as well.

I have switched to Smart Keyboard Pro because of this, and will not miss Swift.key.

Too bad they refuse to listen to users.
    I'll try Smart Keyboard Pro.
If anyone else has found a good alternative, please post the name of the app.
I won't put up with Swiftkey's bad attitude anymore.

Same problem here. Also, when I select suggested word/phrase (my email address, for example), SwiftKey automatically insert space at the end of chosen word/phrase and my email address is not acceptable because it "is not" correct.

+1 to all of the above. The added space is very non-productive. I won't repeat all the reasons mentioned above. I have experienced all of these.

This really needs sorting. Otherwise it's a great keyboard. Gboard has this issue nailed.

This is a killer for me. I'm sorry, but I'm uninstalling. IT EVEN ADDS THE EXTRA SPACE *AFTER * THE PUNCTUATION. And it screwed up the above asterisk too... See it?

SwiftKey is a default keyboard for sony product and unable to unistall or remove. But the most annoying thing is autospace. Whatever prediction word or punctuation is inserted, just we can decide to space or not, not this app. Please fix it

It's amazing how SwiftKey support is good in ignoring 7 months of user feedback.

Come on SK guys - otherwise good product, but you are losing users in droves. At least comment why it's not being acted on.

Y'know, SwiftKey came pre-installed on my new phone, and I was willing to give it another chance after not using it for years. Things were looking good at first... and then this!

The sad part is it's probably not even Support's fault that this is being swept under the rug. I reckon either the devs can't figure out how to do it, or management has decreed from on high that us lowly peasants aren't deserving of the effort it would take to implement this.

Either way, this is the last thing I'll be typing on SwiftKey for good, and I'll be doing my best to make sure that goes for my friends and family as well.

Being in IT and using my phone more  and more for work, This is getting old. Fix this or shut the doors and go away. This is just garbage support and there's no reason this has been ignored this long.

Seriously guys, are you going to wait another half a year before even replying? This problem needs to be fixed yesterday. Until it is, everyone in my sphere of influence is uninstalling as I was the one to suggest it to them originally. I can't believe this is a problem... I've been using SwiftKey for years hoping for a fix and still nothing.... Severely disappointed...

I think the reason they're not fixing -- nor replying -- is because there IS no development team.  This product was probably contracted out, the contract team delivered the product, and that's it.  If you need to fix even one bug, you need to contract it out again.

Some "IT" companies are basically sales/marketing/high-level-design companies only, not really tech companies, because the actual tech is farmed out with each project they embark on.

I'm not using this keyboard until you fix this. I remember I had a problem with this issue a year ago, and I see it's still there after numerous complaints.

Autospace after punctuation really is frustrating when typing a url that does not start with "www", e.g. somesubdomain.domain.com. It's also a pain when coding. For example in C#, when i do myOb.prop or myNullObj.?myProp. I have to always remember to delete those useless spaces. Uninstalled it and my world became a better place. I suggest you add an accessible toggle for manual mode that disables all predictive or auto-* features. Then I might install this again if I haven't found a better keyboard app yet.

I really like SwiftKey (Size, Settings, Layout,..), but stopped using it because of auto space after each suggested word.
The auto removal of auto space works in Gmail, SMS,... but there are a lot of apps (e.g. Tinder) where it does not work and this is really annoying.

    Steps:
    1) Start typing
    2) Click on suggestion
--> Now there is a space after the word
    3) Type "."

Result: Now you see "word ." instead of "word."

    Expected:
    A) Fix the issues with auto removal of auto space
    B) User setting where I can disable auto space at all (I do not need this feature)

Arrow keys are a big advantage when working on a shell. But I'm switching back to Gboard because this "forced spaces" thing becomes real trouble when writing scripts.

So its time to move on...
I think part of this problem is how the developer programs each website as not all sites/fields have this problem...but I have decided to move on...I am giving "cheetah keyboard" a shot...theirs has a field to "disable auto spacing" ..."put a space after punctuation marks" in the preferences...Swift key support states in the beginning of this post it can't be done...well if cheetah can do it why not you?

I'm getting too many emails that everyone wants this...so time to put swiftkey to bed and unsubscribe from this forum ...CHEERS!

Keep contacting user support - maybe if enough people keep asking, they'll get the message.

Created an account just to comment on this. Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, give me an option to just disable all auto spaces. I don't care if this goes against some design philosophy that one of the developers lives by, I don't. Please end this torture.
