Hi SwiftKey, why isn't this is implemented? Patent stuff? If that's the case I understand.
You losing a lot of users for not implementing this, even Linus dropped SwiftKey for gboard for this reason. And if it's the money I will pay a pro license.

Could this be A psychological experiment in FRUSTRATION? Or maybe the devs r ROBOTS, not human beings? Perhaps KAFKA has returned from the dead, feeling an intense need to edit. THE TRIAL, having seen these people knocking for over two years on the doors of JUSTICE? Wondering as it were, Will they keep knocking on the doors of NOBODY until they die?

Please implement! Android Pie has this natively. So using SwiftKey is now a downgrade :( Cheers!

@David Van: lol, what? Dude, that's not a SwiftKey functionality, what you're describing is the basic Android text selector, everyone knows about that  :D

It's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about moving the cursor by sliding your finger on the keyboard like a "trackpad". Basically what GBoard or the new iOS keyboard do.

I already switched to GBoard. It's going to a long journey of teaching it all my words but on a big screen this is just a feature I can't live without. GoodBye SwiftKey.

Cursor navigation on spacebar and deleting word(s) by swiping back from the delete key. I seriously need this. Now more then ever because SwiftKey is gonna implement cloud clipboard from win 10 and it would tear me apart having to decide between gboard and SwiftKey then.

I have fat fingers and it's difficult to place the cursor where I want. Holding down the spacebar to move the cursor ⬅️⬆️⬇️➡️ would be the holy grail for SwiftKey at this point. Also, a "home" and "end" function would also be welcome (swipe ⬅️➡️⬅️ to move cursor to the beginning of all text, or swipe ➡️⬅️➡️ to move cursor to the end of all text). Maybe allow users to choose to activate or disable these features in the settings.

I like the idea of having gesture moving cursor but how about foreward and back, up and down arrows for the cursor? I've used this before and it was really helpful.

I've already submitted the text below (which actually references this thread) as a feature request (click here to make yours), but I figured I'd make it public to support the cause.

One of the most uncomfortable tasks I currently face when typing on SwiftKey is moving the cursor. Trying to tap the exact spot I want the cursor to be can be cumbersome. Arrow keys take up valuable screen real estate and don't play to the strengths of a touch-based interface. My proposal is that SwiftKey add support for cursor movement via spacebar swiping.

I know that this gesture is currently used to switch languages. However, switching languages is not a feature that many users need to do often, and it can already be done readily via the collapsable top-bar menu. Moreover, it would not be difficult to add a button to switch languages. This could be done in a few ways: (a) When the button is pressed, a menu of enabled languages is shown for the user to select from. (b) When the button is long-pressed, a menu of enabled languages is shown like a special characters menu is for a letter key. These two options for this proposed language-selection button could even be independent in the settings since they are not mutually exclusive.

Now that we have freed up the swiping gesture on the spacebar, let's discuss how spacebar swiping ought to indicate to cursor movement. My intention is for this feature to be fully compatible with Flow. In order for this to be the case, we have to impose the rule that only swipes which originate from the spacebar will cause cursor movement; those which originate from a letter key will initiate Flow. However, in either case, after the initiation of the gesture, the entire keyboard space should be available for swiping. After a swipe has been initiated from the spacebar, the movement of the cursor should match the movement of the finger closely. This means that horizontal swipes move the cursor along the same line, vertical swipes move the cursor between lines, and diagonal swipes are a proportional combination of each. See how Gboard and iOS have implemented this feature for comparison.

So, to summarize, my feature request is two-fold:
    1. Add the option to enable a button for selecting languages.
    2. Add the option to enable spacebar swiping for cursor movement.

I realize that this is a common request that you guys have seen before, but I believe it is the biggest flaw with SwiftKey. Users looking to switch from Gboard or from iOS expect this feature. There is a thread from over 2 years ago on the Android support thread on exactly this issue, filled with disappointed users and potential users. If this feature were implemented, SwiftKey would easily be the best keyboard available for Android, but right now, a lot of people decide to go back to Gboard when they learn SwiftKey doesn't have spacebar swiping cursor control. Please implement this feature. For the sake of good software.

Feel free to follow-up with me on this issue. I'm willing to help however I can.

SwiftKey is by far and away the most effective and pleasant android keyboard that I have used, but it has one massive flaw: there is no way to quickly over the cursor via gestures or swiping. (Yes, I know there are direction buttons you can enable but they're cumbersome, ugly, and take up valuable screen real estate.)

The only explanation I have read why SwiftKey lacks this feature (which all competing keyboards seem to have, by the way) is because it uses the swipe-on-keyboard getsure to change languages.

However, this is a lame excuse because there a couple of alternative solutions which easily spring to mind: either allow swiping via a setting which enables long-press swiping (which currently brings up a second, and therefore redundant, language selector), or have a toggle option which turns the suggestions bar into a swipe area for curosr control. And those are just off the top of my head.

At this point it seems almost like SwiftKey devs just don't won't to offer this functionality, rather than simply being unable to implement it. So what gives?

I just found this thread after submitting my own "request" for this feature... This is a deal breaker! This keyboard would just about be perfect if Flow and Gestures were not made mutually exclusive in this app... As it is, I simply can't use it. And from the look of this years long conversation, I can see that there isn't much hope of this being corrected. Back to the drawing board...

Yes. They don't care, it's obvious. I don't know what should I do, send this request to the support for I don't know how many times? Can others try?
