[Feature Request] Make spacebar bigger

If you guys don't get a bigger space bar soon I'm going to a different platform.

I'm usually the last person to bother writing a complaint or request in a forum, but I got the end of my tether today while trying to have a somewhat urgent/angry typed out conversation that ended up with hundreds of. Periods. And. Looking. Absolutely. Ridiculous. FIX THIS FFS.

I found this thread by looking for a solution.  I too have been using swiftkey for a while and my kids are like ... why do. you. keep. typing. with. periods Dad... I dunno!  Make space bar bigger please or just respond to all these requests. 

Yes please add the option for a wider space bar this would help significantly. You can maybe have an option to move the emoji button to the toolbar (the has gifs, stickers, etc) "

I thought I am the only one but I have the same issue. Please make the space bar bigger!!

@Evan L In the settings you can switch off the smiley button. It makes the space bar a little bigger.

I just did that. Shame on me for not diving into the settings more. This certainly helps, thanks!

Same here. Used to never be an issue until I got. My galaxy s9+ and now all I do is have sentences that have the most random period filled rants.

Make the spacebar big again. 

I gave up. Moved to the default Google G board on phone now as fed up with lack of response from SwiftKey. Good luck with your quest for a bigger space bar!

It's clear they do not care. because my texts are populated with unwanted periods, I tell my friends and business associates "Pardon all the hard stops and capitals. I use Swiftkey and they have an unusually small space bar that annoys everyone but SwiftKey refuses to fix. For business, I will use GBoard, but for friends I let it go. I said it before and i will say it again, I have arthritis and going back to fix my mistakes only causes me more work and more pain. I can't believe a company would be this heedless in listening to its user's desires. I tell people that I love the keyboard because it helps me not make arthritic mistakes but that their refusal to fix their issues is terrible.

Swiftkey is dead. Zendesk sucks for this. And I will avoid any future products and such from them. Thank you.

Best would be to make the return key shorter and move the full stop about one key size to the right. I think this would do the trick, at least for me.

This should be addressed... Probably a small program change (in the grand scheme of things).

I found that once I disabled the dedicated emoji key under advanced settings/typing/ keys, the spacebar got big again and I don't hit the wrong button nearly as much. Give it a try. Not perfect but much much better.

Been.annoyed.by.these.dots. Since.Swiftkey.did.not.do.anything.about.it.I.just.changed.to.Gboard and everything seems to be fine now.

I specifically came here to request a bigger bloody spacebar! I have left swiftkey and gone to g board until this bloody thing is fixed!

I came to request the opposite. I have my keypad rather large as I get too many misclicks otherwise, yet still half the time when I'm using the bottom row of letters It registers a space tap instead. Could we make the gap between the letters and the space bar larger by making the space bar slimmer?

Had this issue for far too long, I'm moving to another keyboard and never going back.

The ridiculouness of it all is how long it took me to type the search, to find this page. I wanted to type "space .com" but it was impossible to do this in SwiftKey as it kept moving the full stop next to the 'e'. gboard for me too now

Adding my name to the list. I want an adjustable spacebar that can be made taller and or wider. I'm tired of hitting the b or period instead.

It's absurd that this still hasn't been addressed (technically fixed). Literally half of the spacebar button isn't even pressable! No wonder I constantly have words that don't get any spaces between them, having to rely on autocorrect to split them apart.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is intentional as a way to force much more usage of word prediction/autocorrect, which data then gets synced to SwiftKey/Microsoft servers, where they can utilize it for their own "anonymized" purposes.

We really need to get some reverse engineers together so that we can manually fix this app ourselves, like this issue + also making the spacebar button swipable to move a cursor in the direction you want (for easier selection and refinement, instead of the often difficult and inaccurate finger pressing and dragging of the mouse cursor).
