I also noticed this. The middle suggestion was "this." in that first sentence. Before, periods would enter the middle suggestion and apply a space.

My app updated last night and the feature to automatically insert the middle autocorrection when you press the period is missing. It is also missing the auto space and capitalize feature after a period. Very frustrating as I use that exclusively.

Also happening here. They fixed Note 8 size, but now this. Which devices are you using?

We need to press space bar to apply auto correction.

I tested using S8 also and it's not experiencing this bug. Only Note 8.

It's absolutely impractical. It's really killing typing experience.

It's pretty tough to understand what's happening to SwiftKey lately. So many bugs and when they fix something, they break another thing.

Hi. Same here. Does anyone know before what version number it wasn't messed up ?

    Edit: for language

I also have this problem. Exclamation points, question marks, and commas all work correctly (I used commas to type this and it worked just fine). Exact same issue as Viniciusrsouza above. I use a Pixel 1 XL.

Ah! I thought I was the only one. I noticed I was making a lot more typos/having issues with messages today and now I know why... It's extremely aggravating.
    (This is on my S8)

Same thing.  I've had Swiftkey forever and this just started happening.  It's killing my soul.  Not sure why this would be taken away, but I'm hoping it's just an oversight.

    Swiftkey Beta: 6.7.4.24
    Phone: Samsung Galaxy S7
    Android: 7.0

I thought I was going crazy. I don't see it listed anywhere in the settings. But I guess it's only the period, like someone else mentioned? (The question mark and comma worked... And the ellipses?) It's causing some capitalization/word overlapping issues for me too.

    I'm on the Note 8.

Let's everybody pray they don't ignore this issue for about 3/4 months just like they did with the huge keyboard issue on Note 8. They finally fixed it in the last update, but messed up with periods.

The lack of an official answer about this is an indication that we shouldn't create expectations.

I miss so much the old SwiftKey days when all the money we paid for it and it's themes were recognized and no ridiculous bugs happened every month.

Is this potentially a language/locale issue? I'm in the US and am using the US English QWERTY keyboard, and am not experiencing this problem. I'm just curious if users that are having it are outside the US and/or use a non-US keyboard/character set.

    Jeremy,
Are you using SwiftKey Beta or the regular SwiftKey?

That's something I meant to include. I am using the latest beta.

No space after a period is an improvement. It's so annoying signing into something and getting an error message because you didn't notice swiftkey inserted a space in your email address or username. Since I actually use my space bar when I need a space, I prefer no space after periods to remain. If anything, make an option to it turn off or on.

What?! Do you know what we are talking about? It has nothing to do with email or username boxes. By the way, SwiftKey already detects some areas where it shouldn't insert space.

The problem here is that we insert periods, exclamation and interrogation marks ALL THE TIME and they need to correct the current word we're typing and is suggested in the center mainly for productivity purposes.

What's happening now is simply destroying the keyboard usage and speed when typing sentences, something we do 99% of the time.

And, one more time, they simply don't care for another issue and simply don't answer any ticket when they want to clearly ignore us.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I regret SO MUCH all the money I paid in the past for this.

And the main issue here isn't the lack of space. The REAL problem here is the lack of automatic correction! This is frustrating us so much.

To answer earlier questions, Pixel 2 XL, latest beta, US.

This keyboard was so great for awhile and lately it's just becoming bloated and problematic. This period thing is driving me nuts, almost to the point of switching keyboards...something I haven't considered in a long, long time.

Exactly! And, what's worse than a problematic app? No support. Lack of answers and ignoring users.

I switched some months ago because it was HUGE on Note 8 (just like it was on Note 5 and S8, but they quickly fixed). They took FOUR MONTHS to apply the same fix for Note 8. Even XDA and Reddit users discovered that root users could simply change the device model name to the S8 one to fix it. Simply as that.

Now there is this new ridiculous bug and they simply don't answer anyone.

It's just another poor free app without importance and support, but many of us paid for it in the past. Just to feel as idiots today.

Hi there! I Uninstalled swift key, and then installed SwiftKey Beta. Problem seems to disappear.
I would like to see a solution to disable auto space after period too. Cheers, hope it helps!

"What?! Do you know what we are talking about? It has nothing to do with email or username boxes. By the way, SwiftKey already detects some areas where it shouldn't insert space"

The title of the thread is:
"What happened to auto space after a period?" If you decided to go off topic that's on you, but I was giving my thoughts on the thread topic. Usernames and email addresses were only an example, and swiftkey does not always detect the where it shouldn't enter a space. In my experiences it doesn't more often than it does. But it is especially annoying when I'm typing a list of IP addresses or fully qualified DNS names in a text file or messaging app, deleting spaces after swiftkey auto inserts them is tedious and annoying.

Other than that, my autocorrect works fine most of the time. Only issue I have relating to autocorrect or spell check is when it doesn't choose the right word, and I select the word and change it, it will leave in part of the word after the cursor when it corrects the word.

So I deleted the Beta app, which I was using and it seems to have fixed the problem. Now if there is a misspelled word at the end of a sentence, it will fix it when I insert the period and insert a space.

Did an unnistall of beta version and installed it again right now. The problem persists.

For those who tried this workaround, the thing was get out of beta and install the normal version?

    Samsung Galaxy Note 8 here.

All I did was uninstall the beta and installed the official release. The official version doesn't have the issue. I turned off auto-update for the official release.

This is bizarre. Some people reporting unnistall and install again the beta version fix this. Someone else said that unnistalled default version and installed beta one to fix. Others reporting that getting out of beta version and using stable one fixed.

And, meanwhile, no support, no official answers and no beta app updates.

This sounds like a typical acquisition. Microsoft probably weeded out most of the original team and now the current SwiftKey team is either too small and too busy to monitor the forum or they simply don't care. Sucks for those of us who have been using SwiftKey for a long time and paid money into it.

I can't get out of beta, since this last update finally fixed keyboard size on Galaxy Note 8. They took four months to fix that. And now this.

What they really done was let it huge because some people liked it. So, in instead of fixing it and creating a new resizing method, they simply let it huge, ignoring complaints, avoiding the other messages from those who liked the huge size if they fix that.

Now that's finally fixed, this weird bug.

I'm so sure they will blame the keyboard size fix as responsible for this period issue. So they can revert the fix and stay quiet again and do nothing for more months.

And, remember, S8 and Note 5 also got the huge keyboard issue and it was simple to fix. It was the same problem. But this time it seemed they didn't want to mess with that because last time many people preferred the bizarre huge keyboard size.

By the way, the default app version still didn't receive the keyboard size fix for Note 8. It's still huge.

One more evidence that they maybe deliberately broke this period auto correction function just to blame the keyboard size fix and revert it definitely. And, in the end, no need to care or work in a better resizing method for all devices.

    And that's it.

@Viniciusrsouza, with phones getting larger and supporting higher resolutions every year, I'm pretty sure that SwiftKey would, at some point, have to create an adaptable mechanism for scaling the keyboard without having to develop exceptions for each phone model that comes out. I'm suspecting that's why it's taken so long to get this implemented for the Note 8; it wasn't intended to be just another one-off fix that solves a short-term problem, but a solution that will address future devices as well. I don't have any evidence for this assumption other than someone in support @ SwiftKey that's alluded to it in response to a support request.

I think the auto-correct issue is, while bothersome, unrelated. There are usually multiple patches/fixes in each release, whether it's beta or GA, and something else broke auto-correct.
