Keyboard doesn't pop up sometimes on iMessage
I saw a topic where they talk about it but the last post was from 2014 and I didn't see a solution.
Has the issue been resolved?
It's when the keyboard sometimes fails to pop up when switching to iMessage. Currently iMessage has to be quit and re-launched for the keyboard to pop up.
I don't have that problem since using iOS 8.3 and latest version of SwiftKey.

I've got 8.3 and I updated to the latest SwiftKey a few days ago I believe. Still happening...
Any ideas?

I would suggest a clear install of iOS 8.3. That means you do it via connecting your phone to a computer using USB cable, and put your phone in recovery mode, and do not restore. Just load all apps manual including all settings.
You might get better battery life like I did, too.

It's happening for me to on iOS 8.3. And I'm certainly not going to sit down for 3 days to manually reinstall all my apps.
I'm just saying it helped me in many ways and I'm letting you know that.

This happens occasionally for me. Not often. But it's any keyboard. None comes up. I have to swipe the messages app out of the multitasking tray.
Apples implementation of third party keyboards is a complete fail so far. No speech input and keyboards not showing reliably. I hope they fix this with iOS 9.
Give them a chance. They've barely been at it a year. Also tbh I've never encountered an issue like that with Fleksy keyboard for example. iOS is a completely different type of platform and Devs need to adapt to and learn the unique way of implementing their product.

With this last release of Swiftkey now I'm seeing WhatsApp default to the stock keyboard constantly now. I have to switch over to Swiftkey manually. Pretty annoying...
Did you reboot your device? I know iOS has a bug that prevents SwiftKey to show up unless you reboot.

This is happening with me too, if I use the apple keyboard this isnt a problem. It doesnt happen often but its still pretty annoying, I also get apps that wont use Swiftkey either, my bank app for example, still pops up the Apple keyboard even though its been deleted from the list. So there is obviously some work that still needs done, but I've been using Swiftkey for a couple of years now and have a big cloud backup of my typing from Android (I just bought a new iPhone) so thats the prime reason I will keep using this even with some small glitches 😄
Hopefully Apple gets this figured out as do the developers, amazed honestly that Apple even let this happen 😉
I just did a clean install of IOS 8.3 and the problems still persists. The keyboard not coming up on when I try to type and its mostly happens in iMessages. Or if it does it reverts back to the IOS Keyboard. I have deleted the IOS Keyboard from the Keyboards and left only the option for the SWIFTKEY keyboard and it hangs up more.
This has been an ongoing issue with IOS and Swiftkey for some time now. It should at least be better and yet it hasn't changed since day one from my own personal experience. It makes third party keyboards unbearable and neutered.
I understand the password part of Apple and I do not mind that as it's not important to swipe your password anyways as your password should not be swipe-able(if that is a word). But some consistency for the iMessage should be had by now.
I am going to delete the keyboard again and just wait. It's too frustrating otherwise.
Please do not be an Apple apologist. A year is a lifetime in the technology world to not fix this annoyance.
I agree this issue should have been fixed by now. It has improved on my old iPhone 5 with iOS 8.3. Hopefully it will continue to improve more as time goes on. The fix may not be as easy as we'd like. In the mean time, you can send Apple feedback. http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
