    Hi Paul,

    You meant "doesn't work for 'you' " right?

    This method is discovered by some users on Reddit and some of my individual dev friends. It's not an official method. If it keeps fail on your device, I'd suggest you to contact Samsung directly.

    Paul, the phone management of Samsung OS is tricky, as I replied a while ago, I still suggest to look for solutions with Samsung officials. The tutorial worked for most users and we had no problem while testing it in our mod team.

    I have had to uninstall Swiftkey as I have 2 issues.
    It won't stay as my default inout device and it causes an error which keeps closing the samsung keyboard, making my phone virtually inopperable.
    I have Samsung Note 5 running Android 7.0

    I'm not sure how to help you because I'm not familiar with Huawei devices. But try to toggle off the Huawei keyboard may help in general. However if you have password for turning on the device, I'd not recommend to do so.

    @Dave

    3/4 of the reports we received comes from Samsung devices, perhaps it's Samsung has some sort of special management. As for the crash of Samsung keyboard, please search for similar content in the forum, for example: is this problem similar to yours? If yes, please comment directly in that thread; if not, please take a look at other threads or start a new thread with all the details. What happened to you might happen to others as well, your report might just help us out.

    Thank you.

    You could also simply disable your stock keyboard

    @Steven

    I would not recommend it to everyone. Because some users have set up bootup password, which has to be typed by stock keyboard. Because it's during the bootup, no 3rd party apps would be allowed to start.

    For the users who don't have a bootup password, yes, disable the stock keyboard might be a solution.

    I've done this and not only is it still disabling itself, it's completely resetting all of it's settings, deleting of of the a data and deleting all of the themes Including the custom themes that I've made.
    Any ideas?

    I have a Samsung Note 8 and have been using the Swiftkey keyboard for years. I recently got the Android Pie update and now the keyboard constantly switches back to the default Samsung keyboard. I am able to change it, but after a short time, it goes back to the default. The instructions above are too old and don't work for this issue. Has anyone figured out how to get the Swiftkey keyboard to remain on in Pie on a Note 8?

    Android Pie Solution! What finally worked for me is: in settings main menu there is a "Memory" option which specifies which apps, when trigger is at ON, are not forced closed to save energy. That worked for Swiftkey pretty well.
