Old Phone to New Phone Android
AnsweredHi,
I'm struggling here to transfer from my Samsung 6 to the new Samsung 8 with all my predictions from the old phone. First I did a backup sync on my old phone, and then did a backup sync on my new S8. Nothing happened. Do I need to delete the app on my old phone? Dose anyone have an answer.
I will say that the tech support is very weak in regards to the response time, and information. I'm surprised being a Microsoft owned product that they don't offer better support as I have been waiting more than three days for my answer.
Thanks for your response

This was something unbelievable... I presumed SwiftKey wud have it ... I'm looking out for other options
Anup ps, let me know if you find another decent option that actually backs up and transfers your personal dictionary. I'll even pay for it. As far as I'm concerned this is an issue that will cause me to stop using the keyboard if unresolved, and it looks like it won't ever be resolved
Me and wife both are facing the same issue. Both have bought new phones and SwiftKey is not syncing
Sturggling like all of you guys. I tried to copy local directory, but cant find the path for the dictionary. Anybody tried that approach?
Same issue, new phone, no predictions from old phone.
Alpert knows what we are talking about but he keeps on behaving like he don't understand anything.
Same disappointment, tried every fix. S5 to s 10. However I have an old clean S5 that I was able to set up very quickly just as an experiment. Could the problem be in the new phone software? This is so very frustrating.
Same issue here on Note 10+
Provide import function to import all data. Years of pridictive words goes waste. If Microsoft can't do it then who can
Same here. Note 9 to Note 10. We just need a backup settings to file. I don't care if it is local or to cloud drive. Just do it like Nova Launcher does. Saves out a backup file locally or to cloud choice. Save everything including words, predictions, vocabulary, settings, themes, purchased themes and any other setting that was customized. We know what to do once we have the backup file. Then give us an import backup file option.
As Deadpool once said, "That's just lazy writing."
Please fix this, this has been needed since Swiftkey became a thing.
Thanks.
Same issue here, never had any issues before.
Sync used to work just fine a while back
If this is a bug we want to see an immediate update
Dealing with the same issue here. My previous phone upgrade seemed to have imported all of my ~50,000 custom words (whatever you want to call them) but the latest upgrade has not imported any. You're selling all of our data to the highest bidder anyways, keywords locations, people, etc. At least help us help you make more money. It's unbelievable and absurd that this simple switch is just turned off, even though the data is sitting right there. Why the conscious decision to lock it away? Makes zero sense.
Also having the same issue. Migrated from S7 to P30 pro.
No one from SwiftKey is engaging the community regarding this issue?
I have exactly the same Problem after a Re-Installation ☹️ so sync anymore
My old phone got stolen and I also can't sync my dictionary to the new device. Very frustrating
To Anyone still struggling with this problem.......
After searching for a solution for over 2 hours so far, I came across this solution (no grantees it'll work for everyone, but it DID WORK for me) as I'm transferring from Samsung Note 8, to Samsung Note 10+.
FIRST... Uninstall previous SwiftKey keyboard
SECOND... download and install SwiftKey version 7.0.9.28 apk file (the model worked for me was the "arm64-v8a" Architecture) from https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/swiftkey/swiftkey-keyboard/swiftkey-keyboard-7-0-9-28-release/
THIRD... Login & Sync with your swiftkey account
by now, you should get all your predictions, preferences, and data available on your new phone.
FINALLY... head to the Play Store & update your app.
These steps worked for me, the only thing I'm missing is specific app predictions (like suggesting website when using a browser Vs suggesting text and emojis when using messaging apps)..... other than that, I have all my predictions & data synced the right way.
Hope this help anyone!

These methode don't work for me 😔 also with the old apk I get no predictions from my dictionary 😞
Same problem here. Old data sync to new phone is not working. Plz fix it.
Same here. Several times reinstalled. Installed old versions and also beta version. I am using SwiftKey for more than 6 years and there is maybe more than thousands of words that i thought SwiftKey. But syncing doesn't work. After login and under view data every word is listed and i can and hava exported and downloaded it. But why there is a export function, when we are not able to import it. This software is now under control and developed by the most biggest software company in the world. SwiftKey and Microsoft i have to say, this issue and that nobody responds to this problem is a joke.
Same Problem here. I changed my Smartphone and tried to transfer my synced words, etc via Google Login from old to New Phone but it doesnt work. I've used Swiftkey since years...
I had noticed that a while ago and it's freaking frustrating to notice that this has not been addressed so far. Everybody here should rate them on play store. In my case, I'm always switching over different custom roms and kernels trying to find the best balance of battery VS performance. I had came from a mid-ship Samsung to a s7 flat since 2017, from then I already had a plethora of words in my dictionary. It's so annoying to see all of them stored but not able to restore and use it. Let alone that I'm pretty sure they are selling our data.
Same issue here switching from a Huawei P10 to a P30 - none of my old predictions work, and worse SwiftKey doesn't seem to want to learn them AT ALL. It's been 2 days and it's still autocorrecting my name from Nicky to mucky, even though I correct it every time. At this point I don't have any choice but to switch to another option, I can't keep battling it just to write simple messages.
this is so stupid... happened to me when I switched from s7 to note 8 and now switching to note 10, it makes me think that I should have kept the Samsung keyboard learning instead of swiftkey. fortunately I still have the old phone which gives me hope to sync to the new one..
I have the same issue, my 8 years of prediction can't be synced to my new phone, hell, I was a fkn VIP member before MS buys it!
Further update - as it came pre-installed on the phone I'm unable to try uninstalling and reinstalling it. Every time I try to uninstall it just uninstalls the updates but leaves the base app installed. It still doesn't work in that state, or if I then reinstall the updates. This is incredibly frustrating to not only lose years of data, but have the app refuse to perform its basic function of LEARNING new data.
I will be disabling Swiftkey and finding another option. I'm frustrated and disappointed.
I have been a SwiftKey user since it was a beta product in 2009. Obviously, I have changed phones many times in the last ten years. I never had any issues transferring my account and predictions between phones until now. For some reason my predictions will not transfer to my new phone. I have tried logging out and back in, uninstalling and reinstalling, rebooting the phone, and anything else I could think of. Nothing is working. This is extremely frustrating. I do not want to lose years of learned vocabulary and typing style.
The method mentioned on 2nd page by Sahertalaat worked for me. Big thanks.
Same experience here. Samsung S8 to S10, years of predictions I want to keep. Doesn't work, and I can't even tell it to re-learn from SMS and the like as the Personalize option is gone, replaced by something called Cloud Prediction?!
I clearly see my word list when I log on to my account so it is not like it is gone or anything. It is just this damned app that suddenly decided to not load it...
Clearly the backup&sync function has some major issues. And has been having them for quite some time as seen above.
EDIT: The resolution provided by Sahertalaat above worked for me, at least the options to re-learn from SMS and social media came back so I could make it re-learn some of the words.
But this is an ugly, ugly solution that should not be necessary...
Same here, that's really unbelievable. It's been 2 months and not only a single reply from Microsoft. That's definitely not acceptable. After 8 years its time to switch the keyboard, unfortunately. It's the best example for a big company buys a perfect product just to get the customer data and doesn't care about the real functionality and user experience anymore. Just sad...bye bye
This solution here didn't solve my problem, I am going crazy :( It is unable to login.
I contacted the support, but no one replied to me!
