Yes I know, thank you for commenting, I went through all the other comments before asking my question. I was hoping there was a solution I might have missed. Nothing yet

I absolutely think the space bar is a PIA. When using two hands (I only do this while driving LOL) my thumb hits the period A LOT. I've used SK for years on my S4 but just got a pixel 2. Since doing so the typing is often cumbersome. I think it's to do with the keyboard and not the phone. Earlier versions had an adjustable space bar.
BTW if folks don't agree then don't fret it. Nobody is asking you to sacrifice anything.

    I agree!

I've been using Samsung Dafault keyboard for years, but when move to SK I ALMOST ALWAYS press period key without noticing.

I also have the same problem. Is there a way to make the period a longer press to eliminate the problem? If it took slightly longer to press the period then the problem might be solved.

I have raised this issue time and again but Swiftkey does not seem to notice or care.

I would love for this company to allow you to build a custom board with the spacebar size and position could be made variable. Also moving the return and period button away from the letter row also. You can't hit the bottom row of buttons without hitting the spacebar. If you could shorten the spacebar and leave a gap this problem would be greatly reduced. However, this program is designed to collect your typing data and they seem to not care about function requests. I've been telling them this for years.
