[Feature request] Voice recognition WITHOUT Google
AnsweredHi all. I've been using SwiftKey for a veeery long time and it's amazing. I really liked the voice integration but a while back I started to get away from Google products (yes, Android is from Google but you can strip quite a lot of their stuff from it) and I (sadly) discovered that after removing Google Search app the voice dictation stopped working.
SwiftKey is now owned by Microsoft and MS has it's own voice recognition. There is also a Common Voice project from Mozilla (https://voice.mozilla.org/) which should be more open/transparent (though they are only collecting data / training for now).
tl,dr;
Having alternative voice input would be awesome!
Hey Wojtek,
As we are a MSFT product, if we ever switched away, it would most likely be with Microsoft's. (this is my personal opinion).
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm fully aware of that fact hence putting it there at the first place and suggesting Mozilla solution as alternative (motivation being MS becoming more and more open-source friendly, however in this case the price is the amount of collected data hence using non home-made solution wouldn't be ideal... for MS).
At any rate - using anything different than Google would be great!
Hi there I second this request! Please add MICROSOFT voice recognition to SwiftKey! Google forces use of their voice search/assistant which forces a search bar onto my homescreen. If you do a search online you'll see we are not the only ones who want JUST voice recognition for our keyboards. For some reason Samsungs S-voice won't do that. There is a chinese keyboard app that does but its layout is horrendous. This IS a feature you could promote.
PS I don't think this should be considered ANSWERED as the "answer" just repeats part of OP's question. He was asking IF MSFT would EVER be used. Please answer that question.
Please Microsoft own voice typing, we are need it.
Please let us use Cortana for voice-to-text input. Thanks.
