I've got the same issue on my new Xiaomi Mi 9t Pro. Login with google, opens chrome to authorize, I login and it goes back to the login screen in the app.

I have the same problem too with my new Galaxy Note 9. Had a OnePlus 6 previously, with no issues so it appears to be a recent thing. Running all the latest software, Android 9 and up to date app.

    Problem founded.

If you don't select the flag for newsletter before to select microsoft or google it doesn't work login. If you select it works flawless

    It should be fixed though!!

On the old phone I've logout and I had the same problem.

Then I've tried selecting "news and updates" and it login flawless in old and in new phone.

    Hope it works for everybody!

This is ridiculous. It actually worked by ticking the newsletter box. Really, SwiftKey?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just underneath the login options there is a box to sign up for news and updates from SwiftKey.

Selecting that option and trying to use my Google account does not work. Still spins forever.

It boggles my mind that SwiftKey still haven't got an answer for this or an update as to the cause!

Without logging in you cannot select alternative themes either!

You are going to lose so many customers because of this. I've been using SwiftKey since my first android phone and I'm still hanging in there hoping for a fix but gonna drop it soon.

I agree Darren Evans I think their problem is that they are not able to recreate the case maybe. We con't know which is the percentage of users having this problem.

It's not an excusation but I'm trying to find and explanation (and I work in IT field even if completely different)

Dirk how did you checked that?

I've logged in here https://data.swiftkey.com/view-data and the words are there.

Francesco, I work in IT too as a developer, hence my confusion on how they are dealing with this.

It must be pretty widespread. My wife got a new phone (Samsung A20e} a couple of weeks ago, same problem.

My daughter got my old Samsung S7, factory reset, same problem.

Is there anyone that can actually log out and then successfully log in again?

I'm imagining most people aren't experiencing the problem because they successfully logged in ages ago and whilst logged in in just works. It'll only be on a reset or new phone they experience the problem.

Here is a message to SwiftKey, if you need to perform diagnostics on a phone that consistently shows the problem I will be more than happy to help you running debug builds or whatever you need to diagnose the problem.

So, further to my last post, I've now managed to log in. I was able to log in to my Microsoft account, and from there I went into the settings and clicked on 'View and Manage Account Data'. Although it takes you to a Microsoft site, I was able to log into my Google account. I accepted the permissions request, and from there went back to the app, logged out of Microsoft and logged into Google first time. Don't understand the logic of that, but hope it helps you all.

Hm, that's strange. Login in with Newsletter checkbox lets me connect to the personal dictionary. But only new words from the past few weeks are shown in the suggestion area.
My old words are in the dictionary, new words are there, too. But the old words won't be shown by starting to type them.
    What a mystery!

Still not fixed? This is absurd!

A 15 years old developer CAN FIX a Google login issue (not related to Google) in minutes, instead this issues is occurring to everyone since months!

Edit: after the checkbox for newsletter is checked the login worked! Really, if one doesn't accept newsletter, the login doesn't work??? This is now even more absurd and ridiculous! MICROSOFT crap.

Anyway the previous dictionary is not synchronized. Uninstalled!

As @Kalus Linsen said, I could login if I checked the newsletter box. It's ridiculous to encounter this type of issue for a paid app.

I had an endless loop between SwiftKey and the browser, accepting the newsletter fixed it!
So the fact you blame Google is ridiculous, the problem is clearly in the app

I had the same infinite loop trying to use a Microsoft account as a Google one. The only thing that worked was accepting the check mark for advertisement emails about future products and services, before attempting to sign in. I didn't try Microsoft with the box checked. The only reason I haven't deleted my SK account after this debacle is because it seems the checkmark box is broken just as well.
In the SK app settings, open the About page from the triple dot on the top right. There, it claims I'm not subscribed to the email update ads.

Surprised to find such an old and important issue has not been fixed. Unable to log in after factory reset. After so long if it still hasn't been fixed there seems little hope. Got to look for an alternative.

Facing the same issue now. I was only able to log in after checking the newsletter box. But all of my saved data (about 6 years worth) is all gone.

Im sure there's a way to get my texting data back, but this issue is still present and it needs to be fixed on SwiftKey's side.

Amazing - selected the newsletter check box and was able to log in. But it's absolutely no use because the data is not synced. So it doesn't make any difference.

Hey everyone, I think we should stop posting on this thread about the login sync issue and make a new pinned thread about it. This pinned thread's first post specifically talks about the account looping thing which, reading through some of the recent post, isn't the main problem some people are posting in this thread...

@Alpert thinks that the reason why this thread is blowing up.

    https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360050609691/comments/360007756292

Right now, there's a lot of the same multiple threads saying the same thing about logging in swiftkey and not syncing to our dictionaries; I have that issue too.

Who can make a new thread about logging in and not being able to sync to our dictionary and pin it so we can bring it more proper attention?

Why is it working if we check the newsletter box??

    This is ridiculous SwiftKey....

Stop blaming this crap on Google and fix your stuff.

(Ps: I'm a dev and it drives me crazy that someone from SwiftKey publicly comes and says it is a Google issue when It is clearly something wrong on how the app handles the sign in process)

I was able to login through mobile Internet, only turning Wi-Fi off, synchronization seemed to work, but it was useless, because all my words are gone. So it is SwiftKey problem.

@Dirk I knew that news, it's quite spread also in english but it's not that.

    1) the login problem happens also with microsoft account

    2) the login problem doesn't happen if you set the flash for news update (even if somebody said it doesn't really activate a newsletter)

-The sync problem? Has nothing to do with that.

I add one more problem: I don't have anymore the setting for personalization in account!

Ticking the newsletter box fixed it. What the everloving f***.
