Why SwiftKey hasn't fixed the cursor control issue on non 3D Touch devices yet?
AnsweredWe came upon non 3D Touch devices as Apple has completely abandoned the technology, bringing haptic feedback. On devices with small screens, such as the iPhone, is easier to handle the lack of cursor control (although iOS native keyboard does the trick very nicely), but it is terrible on the iPad. SwiftKey is, hands down, the smartest keyboard there is - and it's exactly why it is so hard to understand why they didn't come up with a solution.
Hello Andrew,
Cursor control can be triggered by long pressing the spacebar and move your finger to reposition the cursor.
Note: On Microsoft SwiftKey we use the spacebar to switch between different languages and layouts. Therefore, if using the spacebar, it is not possible to invoke cursor control if more than one layout is selected in your Language settings. Hope this helps.
It exists the same behavior if you use multiple languages with SwiftKey on an iPhone 12 Pro (iOS 14). It seems to be 3D-Touch was removed and therefore no cursor control exists. It's exactly the same behavior like mentioned from AndreaEscabor.
One approach another user mentioned was to use language switch on spacebar with swiping and cursor control with long press instead of language switch by swiping and/or long press spacebar.
That should be an easy solution with an iOS like UX.
What do you think?
Hi Christopher, thank you for your feedback. For all feature requests, we also suggest submitting them via here: https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Hi @Deniz K, let me know how I could create a feature request please. Current the "Send us a message" button is grayed out, so I'm not able to. Or does exist other ways to create a FR?
Sadly, as far as I see I could only search for topics... Contacting the support seems not to be the correct way, because this post I answered on is applicable to my issue for which I provided a possible solution.
This hyperlink does not help either.
How to submit a Feature Request And/Or Ask a Question – SwiftKey Support
Hi Christopher thanks for the information.
Have you clicked on the 'Contact Support' button? That button should take you to the form to submit information.
Hi @Deniz K, sometimes it's to easy. :D
I thought there will be something like a ticket system UI as I know from other products. I'm sorry for stealing your time that much. :)
I created a new feature request and hope it will be helpful.
Hi Christopher glad that it worked :) Thank you!
Hi @..., one last question. Exists a possibility to track the from me opened feature request? Would be great to know what happens next to it.
Hi Christopher, there isn't a tracking possibility unfortunately, however when new features are released, you can always find the information on AppStore.
