iOS 14.4 - iPhoneXR SwiftKey not working
AnsweredPhone Model - iPhone XR
Version iOS 14.4
Key Issue: After upgrading from 14.3 to 14.4, SwiftKey fails to work on any application (Microsoft Office 365 mobile applications, WhatsApp, native text messaging, etc.) even when it is the default keyboard. I've deleted and reinstalled the application, restarted my phone, and the Board will flicker to SwiftKey but then switch automatically to Apple's native keyboard. I've installed other third-party keyboard applications to test if this is an issue for them (e.g. Fleksy and GBoard) and run into no issues. Seems to just be an issue with SwiftKey.
Is there a recommended fix for this? This never occurred or was an issue prior to installing the 14.4 software update.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi Jennifer, we are aware of this issue happening with iOS 14 and are investigating and escalating with Apple. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Great - appreciate your quick response Deniz! I've been a long-term SwiftKey user and would really love to continue using this third-party keyboard. When an update is provided after investigating, will that be posted to this forum or through a different channel?
Same issue here, not opening on every app and the prediction bar asks for a permission that Im not able to find on settings!
Hi Jennifer Schram thanks for the feedback. Hopefully we'll have more information soon and when we do, we'll provide an update here.
Hi, regarding the permission, please go to your device Settings > scroll down until you find SwiftKey > Tap on Keyboards > 'Allow Full Access'. Hope this helps.
Hi Deniz,
I already tried this after de-installing and reinstalling the application. It makes no difference. The keyboard does not appear and continues to be overridden by the iOS native keyboard. GBoard doesn't have this problem but I don't particularly want to use their keyboard due to a preference for SwiftKey. Please let me know any alternative troubleshoot methods or if this is a bug that an update will need to be developed to address.
Hi Jennifer Schram unfortunately I don't have an update yet. This has been escalated to Apple, as soon as we have more information I will update you.
