SwiftKey keyboard instantly disappears in YouTube live chat
AnsweredWhen watching a YouTube livestream, when you tap to type something into the live chat, the keyboard appears for a split second before collapsing. Only happens in YouTube. Switching to the normal phones keyboard works.

Hi, thank you for reporting this to us. Sorry for the trouble. While we look into this issue. if possible, can you please try to record a video of the issue happening and send it over to us? This is helpful for us to see the issue when it comes to investigating.
I do not have screen recording software. However, the result is exactly like I described. It instantly closes the keyboard after it opens.
However, I discovered another factor. It only happens while YouTube is casting video to the TV (I use a Chromecast). If not casting, the SwiftKey keyboard stays open like it's supposed to. This problem started a week ago. Before that, it worked.
My temporary solution is to switch to using my phone's native keyboard software while casting live YouTube feeds to the Chromecast so that I can type in live chat.
Hi, thank you for the information. While we are investigating this, could you please try uninstalling and reinstalling SwiftKey to see if this resolves things for you? If you’re worried about losing your learned words, make sure you’re signed in with your account and Backup & Sync is enabled.
Please note that uninstalling the app might delete your Microsoft SwiftKey stats, including saved clips on the clipboard, so if it's okay with you, please go ahead and try to do so.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. It did not work.
I even tried installing the non-beta version of SwiftKey. It did not work.
But I did figure out what causes it. Disabling "show arrow keys on keyboard" fixes it. It works on the regular version and the beta version of SwiftKey as long as you have arrow keys disabled.
The arrow keys were working until a couple of weeks ago.
Again, the problem occurs when:
1. Streaming live YouTube and using chat
2. Casting to a Chromecast
3. Using Swiftkey
4. Have arrow keys on keyboard enabled
This used to work.
Hi Icarus, thank you for your information and for your effort in finding the workaround. We will investigate this further with our concerned team. Thank You!
I can also confirm I have this issue. I also had to disable number row as well for it to stop disappearing.
For anyone else running into this, it has nothing to do with number row or arrow keys (at least not directly).
There is not enough screen space for the video section + chat section + keyboard so apps are competing for the same space. Reducing the keyboard size will fix it, either by resizing the keyboard in layout settings or indirectly doing it with the number row or arrow keys as mentioned above.
Open the keyboard in another app to acces the settings
Stopping by to say that this is also happening in the exact same scenario now for Gboard as well. In YouTube native app on Android casting to Chromecast and the keyboard won't stay up when trying to Livestream chat
