  • Swiftkey suggests numbers Answered
    1 vote 3 comments

Hello, dear developers! The system of memorizing frequently entered words, which should offer the same words the next time, does not work correctly. Because it stores in the dictionary not only words but also numbers. I often work with a calculator, where I need to calculate a lot of numbers. And when I need to write a message to someone, among the suggested words shows the same numbers, instead of words. This creates inconvenience. And it seems to me that the volume of the dictionary is very limited and the numbers will replace the words in the base of the keyboard and fill with numbers. Please correct it. Translated by Google

  • Unwanted auto-correct, even when turned off
    0 votes 2 comments

If I type a word that starts with a capital letter, followed by another word that starts with a capital letter, SwiftKey uncapitalises the first word! I have auto-correct and auto-capitalise turned off, but it doesn't seem to make any difference!

It's incredibly annoying! How do I stop it from doing this?

    Hi,

I was wondering if there was anyway to switch the "," button with the "." button? Also is there a way I could change the default "." button to be a "?"

  • Flow to replace selected text - miscorrections
    4 votes 4 comments

I've run into a particularly annoying bug.

    Let's say I have already:

    One two three

    And I select (highlight) three:

    One two three

And then, with "three" still selected, I swipe the word "seven":

    One two seven

The word is now correct but the word in the middle of the prediction panel is still "three". If I press space or type any other character it miscorrects "seven" back to "three":

    One two three

This is particularly noticeable in Chrome. When I tap the URL bar while already on a page, whatever the current URL is will be pre-selected for me. So let's say I want to search for "happy cats". If I swipe "happy", I get "happy" but the middle suggestion is "I". So if I swipe or type "cats" next, it becomes: "I cats". In the past week I have run into this SO many times as it hijacks my attempts to Google in Chrome.

  • I keep missing the spacebar
    3 votes 4 comments

    Hello!

Since about two months ago, I keep missing the spacebar with my right thumb and hitting. The full stop key instead. <- producing odd-looking sentences like that.

It happens probably fifty times a day. That's a lot of back-spacing! It's so much that I started to wonder why SwiftKey doesn't collect and analyse telemetry on multiple backspacing to identify what errors are repeatedly occurring.

On my phone, the space and letter keys are a very slightly lighter grey than the keyboard background, but the function keys like enter, backspace, full stop are not differentiated. Theres about 0.5cm padding on the left of the full stop key before the spacebar. I think that's why I keep hitting it instead. Could this be fixed?

    Thanks so much,
    Daniel

  • Estonian keyboard layout
    0 votes 1 comment

Would it be possible to change Estonian QWERTY layout and put the letter "ö" under a separate key? It's rather crucial while writing in Estonian to use the letter separately from the letter "o" under what it currently resides.

    With best regards.

  • FR: Fix double space everywhere (after user mistake)
    0 votes 0 comments

I'd like SwiftKey to fix double spaces everywhere.

I often make those kind of mistakes and I like when it fixes some of the spacing, but sometimes I edit a word before punctuation and make an  extra space by mistake - that's what I need fixed.

And generally, when it detects double space where one shouldn't be, it should fix it.

    Thank you.

  • How to change keyboard layout to my own custom layout
    9 votes 15 comments

Hello, SwiftKey is the best keyboard, but the qwerty layout has flaws, as well as all the other keyboard layouts for thumb typing.

I have made my own layout, and want to test it out on SwiftKey :). Is there any way to add my own layout into the language select screen? Maybe if I rooted my phone?

I am willing to relearn a layout, and it's really easy for me to do. I want one which allows me to be sloppy and have really good autocorrect. I can text without looking, but every time I look at my screen, I see the same errors caused by certain keys being too close.

So yeah, I made my own layout, and if it's not perfect, I have an idea for writing a program which can figure out a better layout, and I will continually test each new layout.

And yes I've tried LOADS of android keyboards and also different layouts(qwerty, colemak, dvorak, azerty, etc). Swiftkey is the best for autocorrection, and the smartest so far.

I'm currently using JBak keyboard with my own layout, but it's autocorrect is rubbish.

Why go to so much hassle? because I know it's possible to text without looking at my screen, and I like being able to look up at the world whilst texting at a fast speed, followed by a quick proof read.

  • New emoji - fox Answered

Hi guys, I know this may be silly, but whatsapp has just included the fox emoji a few weeks ago, which us awesome (I love foxes) it would be super cool if you guys had a fox emoji. Previously I would always type and the keyboard would predict my emoji, now however, because I use the fox in every text/message, I often go to the actual apps emoji selection instead of the SwiftKey emojis through predictions

In the gesture input section there are only two options: flow and gestures. I don't want to use any of them since they cause me some problems while I'm typing on my Xperia c4 device. Please add "None" option for those like me. By the way, thank you for developing such fantastic app.

  • Using SwiftKey with a Pixel C physical keyboard
    0 votes 1 comment

    Hi,

I've used SwiftKey (and SwiftKey Neural) for a few years on several devices. Recently I got hold of a Pixel C and the accompanying physical keyboard, both of which are great.

However, I've noticed that the "..." button on the keyboard (which brings up symbols etc has no effect when the default keyboard is SwiftKey. That is with GBoard, touching "..." gives me access to all the extra keys and symbols. With Swiftkey it just acts as a Right-Alt key.

Is there a stetting anywhere in SwiftKey?

Is it something you're aware of and are working on?

Is it something you're aware of but can do nothing about due to Google having something locked down?

Any advice would be awesome, thanks. I have the beginnings of an idea in the back of my head to use IFTTT to switch to GBoard when the device sees the physical board, and back to SwiftKey when not...

  • Hindi predictions on English keyboard, is devnagri necessary?
    0 votes 2 comments

So, recently my SwiftKey keyboard was updated. There is a devnagri script keyboard option as well as the QWERTY English that I usually use. I use a lot of Hinglish in my messages, sure, but I'm not so happy when the English keyboard simply changes the words into devnagri. If I need to I can simply shift over using the spacebar to the devnagri script keyboard. But for the script to hijack my English posts is incongruous, inconvenient, and honestly, frustrating, especially because perfectly acceptable English words are transcribed unnecessarily and SwiftKey becomes not so swift anymore. That's not fun when I have to write emails or text messages in a professional capacity.
What can I do to make this not happen anymore? Are there settings to switch the transcriptions off? Is that possible?

  • [Feature Request] Favorite Emoji
    3 votes 2 comments

Hey I had an idea for your keyboard.

A custom emoji tab where we can add a select number of our favorite emoji for quick selection. SwiftKey is the top of the crop and this feature would enhance our typing capabilities even more. Thanks!

New poster. I hope this is in the correct place. Mods please advise if necessary :)

  • Keyboard Disappearing Except for Predictions

    • LG V20
    • Android 7.0 (Nougat)
    • Swiftkey 6.5.4.26

Twice in the past day or so, Swiftkey has suddenly minimized to just the predictions, the keyboard presumably off the bottom of the screen.

One time, I reset the phone, and that restored it. I wouldn't be here posting, but just a few minutes ago it happened again. This time I disabled and re-enabled Swiftkey and that fixed it...but if this keeps happening, I obviously will not find it worth having to do that each time.

I don't know how to reproduce this, per se. When it happens, it is that way in all apps. Both times it was initially in the AT&T default texting app, but that's probably coincidence, because it's what I use most.

  • There's Unused Space in the Space
    1 vote 1 comment

The space key takes up the space of ➍ keys but has zero functions except, ugh, space and the language switch button which doesn't seem necessary nowadays when the keyboard works in English just fine (with predictions and all) even with a foreign language keyboard always on.

It's space not very well used, is it not? My proposal is that it would get a new look and new functionality: In lieu of one, we would get four buttons which all still do work as the space button but each of them would get their unique secondary functions. One's function — tongue switch. There rest is up to you. ✌

  • Feature Requests - User viewable dictionary
    19 votes 6 comments

I use SwiftKey for years now and I've got rid of most of the weird suggestions now, but it took extremely long and I had to remove lots of words every day for many years. And still I sometimes get suggestions like
"gaucho Hagan Hitchens Cecil Barco barstool Megan yap naval brouhaha..."
that nobody needs. And that after removing thousands of words from the dictionary.
I know that the dictionary must be somewhere in SwiftKey's app data, since it has to be saved offline somewhere. But normal users can't see/edit some binary file in a protected folder, so my suggestion is:
Please make the list of words that are currently in the dictionary available to edit in some form, maybe as a text file (although I doubt it could be opened with the RAM of a phone), maybe as a list with checkboxes to delete many entries at once, maybe in another form.

After the last update the auto spacing after predicting a word has gone. It has just destroyed all the productivity that SwiftKey had been giving to me.

No, this is not a feature for Android beta version. After the last update, this becomes a bug for me and many others that are complaining about it.

  • Possible bug report re onscreen keyboard with Bluetooth keyboard
    1 vote 8 comments
    Hi

I have a problem with Switfkey. I've been using it for years and on my tablet I use a Bluetooth external physical keyboard. Switfkey used to detect this keyboard whenever it was connected and only showed the Predicted Text line at the bottom of the screen, which was exactly what I wanted. Last week for some reason it stopped hiding the onscreen keyboard even when the Bluetooth keyboard is connected. The SwiftKey keyboard has also stayed on top of the home screen a few times, and pressing the back key doesn't make it disappear. Is this a known bug? The details of my set up are as follows:

Tablet: Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7
    Android version: 6.0.1
    Swiftkey version: 6.5.4.26
    External keyboard: Type-S keyboard case

Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated as this makes Switfkey almost unusable in my experience.

    Many thanks
    Angelo

  • [Duplicate] Auto spacing when swiping has disappeared
    2 votes 1 comment

Usually when I swipe on the keyboard, after I complete a word, on keyboard release, SwiftKey inserts the predicted word followed by a space.
But now it doesn't behave that way anymore: after I swiped the cursor stays attached to the predicted word and a space is inserted only after I touch the keyboard again.
How can I go back to the previous mode?

    Thanks
