White Navigation Bar with Dark Theme
CompletadaHi. After my unit was updated to Android P, when Swift keyboard is activated, the navigation bar (bottom) turns white, despite having the dark theme setted in Android. This doesn't happen with Gboard. I didn't have this issue with android 8. Am I missing a particular setting?
This is something we are looking into. We will be in touch when we know more.
Me too! Huawei Mate 10 if it helps!
oh, btw mine is Mate 10 pro
Cheers
Same for me on the OnePlus 5T. Was the same already on Andoid Oreo. Would be nice if the keyboard would color the nav bar in the main color of the used theme.
Coloring the nav bar would complete the night mode request, see this ticket: https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115003751505--Feature-request-Auto-day-night-mode?page=1#community_comment_360004019731
Same on my Huawei Mate 10 Pro with Pie. Please fix ASAP !!!
Won't be using Swiftkey until this is resolved.
Same issue, just updated to android 9, Huawei mate 10 pro.
I have the same annoying issue. Huawei P20 Pro on Android (EMUI) 9.0.
Same on Android 8 on Samsung Galaxy S8.
I am using the Dark High Contrast theme. After the latest beta update of SwiftKey, the Navigation Bar buttons have a much lighter color, making the them almost invisible against the pale background.
The 'navigation bar background' Setting on Samsung devices overrides the dark background color of the navigation bar set by SwiftKey Beta when using a dark theme, so we are seeing pale buttons on a pale background now.
After latest beta update this is worse somehow, the highlight colour is white, on a white background. Can't see the buttons at all on a note 9

Same on Note 8
Same on galaxy note 9
After latest beta update this problem he presented himself again. Mate 10 Pro with Pie y SwiftKey beta 7.2.4.22
The same problem with SwiftKey regular
2 months and this still isn't solved? I'm using a gakaxy note 8 on Android 9. Gboard always got the na bar colour right. Fix this. It is an eye sore having a black phone, with a black keyboard, on a dark night mode theme and having a WHITE navbar
On Huawei Mate 10 Pro the previous Beta version worked fine. Then you guys pushed an update and the nav bar is white again.
This is soooo annoying, all dark mode and a white nav bar. Why does it take so long to fix this and why was it broken again?
Please, please, please push out a fix for this ASAP!
Hello,
We ran into some compatibility issues with some devices on our beta test 7.2.4.22.
So we rolled back this feature.
But don't worry, the new work is being done.
✅ Update March 27: it's fixed in latest version.
Will the 'new work' fix this problem also on Samsung devices?
Or are your just going to eliminate the 'navigation bar background in same color as keyboard background' feature?
I surely hope that the dev team can fix this problem and make it available for all devices very soon.
Last info I got is we are definitely working towards this goal.
I changed phone, OnePlus 6, still white navigation bar.
Same problem here with Mi 9! Currently using Gboard for now...
In release update (dropped yesterday in store) this is now fixed.
The beta had the fix for this about a week ago. The latest beta update is also still okay, no white navbar (Huawei Mate 10 Pro).
You sir are correct! Fantastic stuff 👍. After using Gboard for around a week I can confirm SwiftKey is better than Gboard.
Seems to be fixed on my phone as of latest update! V7.2.6.28
I was using gboard and missed the latest update. Switched back to SwiftKey (after reading your comments) and can also confirm that the issue was fixed, no more white navbar.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (Android 8)
I ever want to use SwiftKey as my main keyboard but... I Always declined to use because the color of navbar be different from keyboard. But today I search a little for a solution and I found this thread... Let's to the point:
Download navbar app (that changes navbar color)
A problem that I had. My keyboard is dark but not black. To set navbar to exactly same color of keyboard I took it the HEXA color from background keyboard trough the site below:
https://imagecolorpicker.com/pt-pt
And the result was great.
Of course: it's not perfect. It have same bad animations... But while typing is more pleasant than before
The cons is the buttons stay black. That can be a little annoying but stiil better than have a white navbar
Sorry my English... Is not my native language. But I want to help. And I hope this tips help someone to troubleshoot this inconvenient problem
