[ASK] Disable Fullscreen keyboard when landscape
Hello, just the title said...
I have some questions,
How to disable fullscreen mode while my phone in landscape mode..
I asked the same question in SwiftKey feedback @playstore but no response yet..
I hope I can get the answers here..
One more thing, I just updated the app from playstore, and I get something (bug maybe) while I write this question, I just get something strange..
Everytime I write letter "i" the AI will convert to capital "I"
That's normal, but in my case the letter "i" is concatenated with "I" and I got "iI". That's strange..
And everytime I try to delete the "iI" to manually capitalize it, the capital "I" shows up from nowhere to the next of cursor location.
And it happened not only for the "i" letter but almost of all words that uses autocorrect function.
I hope you can understand what I mean.
Sorry for my bad English..
That I'm aware of, this is something each app has set up differently (such as Facebook vs Android Messages). There are certain text box parameters that tell SwiftKey, or even Gboard, when it should run in fullscreen landscape and when it shouldn't. I'll try to get some confirmation from the team on whether this is something we can or cannot override.
Your English is perfectly understandable, but I do want to clarify something: you're having an issue with SwiftKey adding "I" or "i" to the beginning or end of your words, is that correct? Could you provide us with a screenshot of such words?
Here I make screen record for the problem I have..

Now I using google stock keyboard..
Yeah. I second the whole fullscreen keyboard disabling thing. Isn't there a way SwiftKey keyboard can disable the trigger?
Thumb Keyboard have the option to disable full screen typing. I don't know why SwiftKey can't do it. Full screen typing it's annoying.
There is an Xposed Module that I created that enables you to use SwiftKey Keyboard as well as SwiftKey Keyboard Beta in landscape without the keyboard going full screen. You can download the module through Play Store.
NOTE - You need Xposed Framework for this app to work.

So is it not possible to disable the fullscreen swift keyboard in landscape mode without rooting the phone?
Please make it possible to remove this horrible and useless mode.
I logged in specially TO COMMENT on this.
Its been MORE than 2 years and still no option is provided for something so simple and user-necessary! Pathetic management from SwiftKey developers. 😐😐👀
Why does this even exist? Who has ever wanted to use this?
Hi,
I have the same problem - in landscape mode Swiftkey opens this full screen writing window making impossible to see whatsapp!
Anyone at SwiftKey cares about this and us, the users?
As there is no root option for my device, I can't use the Xposed module.
Microsoft, please fix this.
Hello, thank you for your feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve the SwiftKey. Our team is looking into this, on a priority basis and trying to make it better. We are very thankful to you for the input given by you. We appreciate your bearing with us in the meantime. Thank you for your support!
This is not an app-specific issue. For example, Samsung keyboard does not go into full screen on Facebook Messenger in landscape mode. This is a SwiftKey bug. Claiming it's an app-specific issue is straight up lying.
It is something the app developer can control: EditorInfo | Android Developers (also see: EditorInfo | Android Developers; the full screen keyboard is called "extracted text UI"). WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger don't set this, Google Chrome does it. It seems that other keyboards like the Samsung Keyboard or Gboard have a workaroung in their code for apps which don't use this flag despite showing a full screen keyboard is nonsense, e.g. in messengers.
Been 5 years and still not fixed
Hi Yaqz101 I've passed your feedback on to the team so that we can keep it in mind as we continue to improve Microsoft SwiftKey.
