What made you switch from android, just a question as I have been working with both platforms and the amount of restrictions was something I didn't like when using the ios version. These are of course, down to the way apple allow access to third party development. Back to your request, you will why do you feel a comma button would be needed and do you feel it would make its usability better?

I am temporarily using an iPhone while my Google Pixel gets replaced, and I am banging my head against a wall because I have no comma button.

Answering for Simon, I feel a comma button is way more useful than a dedicated period button, especially since you can get a period by double tapping. Having a comma would make usability WAY better for me. I use a lot of commas, it's an important part of typing in many languages. I type in English and Spanish and commas are equally important in both.

I'll be running back to Android as soon as I can, but I still support having a dedicated comma button on iOS.

I totally agree, I has to switch to ios due to work issuing us iPhone, the comma is utilized more in a sentence and should require a dedicated button (where the period currently is) since periods can be added with a double tap of the space button.

I really need the comma to the right of spacebar like it was in my Samsung S3. It could be instead of setting key if necessary. VERY IMPORTANT. PLS!

I completely agree. Having to press period and slide (which is extremely inefficient) or press a modifier key to get to a secondary key layout to then press a comma is maddening. We really need a comma on the main keyboard.

Please, please give us at least the option to replace the period with a comma on the main screen. As Thomas Nguyen said, since we can double-press the space bar to get a period and the comma is used all the time in writing, it makes far more sense to put the comma where the period is. Alternatively, just make the (too long) space bar shorter, and add a comma key to the right. Problem solved!

Not having a comma on the main keyboard really degrades the usability of SwiftKey on iOS. Since this is so easy to change, who at SwiftKey can make a decision to change it? How can we contact this individual or group?

We really need this change, and there's no time to lose. Each moment, user productivity is being held back significantly. It's like artificially restricting a race car to a top speed of 30 mph. You have a great keyboard, but it's severely impaired by a serious design limitation.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I posted this to SwiftKey's support system as a feature request just a moment ago:

Request #146414 Desperately Need Dedicated Comma Key

You have a great keyboard, but it suffers from a significant limitation: the lack of a dedicated comma key on the main keyboard, which severely slows down users. Since the whole point to a swiping keyboard is efficiency, this is a show stopper.

    There are two easy solutions:

    1. Make the (too long) space bar shorter, and add a comma key to the right.

    2. Replace the period with a comma on the main screen. Since we can double-press the space bar to get a period and the comma is used all the time in writing, it makes far more sense to put the comma where the period is (and the period where the comma is now).

The first seems like it would be ideal and trivially easy to implement.

Not having a dedicated comma key on the main keyboard is a show stopper. Please, please fix this!

Also, SwiftKey on iOS is inconsistent with SwiftKey on Android. On Android, when you press the comma key, it correctly inserts a space afterward. It doesn't do this on iOS. In practice, it's very rare to not want a space after a comma. Having to manually press comma and then space once again slows users down massively, which directly contradicts the very purpose of SwiftKey. At least give users the option to automatically insert a space after a comma.

I would like to second everything that Steve Jovanovic said above. We need a dedicated comma button which automatically inserts a space afterwards. It doesn't make sense to have a rarely used emoji button in that spot. Thank you for your consideration!

Steve Jovanovic is so spot on! I couldn't agree more with him on the following -

'Also, SwiftKey on iOS is inconsistent with SwiftKey on Android. On Android, when you press the comma key, it correctly inserts a space afterward. It doesn't do this on iOS. WE NEED DEDICATED COMMA KEY AND AN AUTOMATIC SPACE AFTER COMMA OPTION! (or some other shortcut for the same)

Please, I also would reaaallly love the comma button back. And also the auto-space after punctuation, albeit, that is secondary.

EDIT: One thing I found to help ease the pain slightly is to add a new "Text Replacement" entry into iOS to replace '..' with ','. So when you type ".. " it automatically gets turned into a comma. This is faster than long pressing and trying to figure out where the damn comma is.

    To create new text replacements:

    1. Go to "Settings App --> General --> Keyboard --> Text Replacement --> +"

    2. Add, without the quotes, phrase: "," and shortcut: "..".

    3. Sometimes you'll want to be able to add three dots (ellipses), but this new shortcut will prevent you from doing that. There's already a character for it you can access from the SwiftKey keyboard "[SwiftKey keyboard] --> 123 --> Long hold on the period '.' "

I can't see a situation were i wouldn't want autospace after a comma (iOS version).  Can we please add it?
