The clipboard is not accessible during password typing due to security measures.

Arrgh. Most of the shortcuts I've set on SwiftKey are for my passwords!  I can understand not having the hamburger menu visible at such times for security reasons, but would it be possible to allow shortcuts to function?  In other words, keep the clipboard unseeable, but if I know the shortcut, I can put it in and have it work. Of course, for that to happen, you'd have to have the suggestion tabs work. Right now, not only is the hamburger menu disabled, but so too are the suggestions. I'd really love to be able to have SwiftKey's wonderful shortcut feature be useful for shortcuts while not seriously compromising security.

One more thought: if you don't want to have the suggestion tabs work when a password is being requested, might it be possible for the user to set a key--for example, %. Then when the user types the shortcut plus the special key, whatever the shortcut stands for would be written in the password field.  What do you think?

If I remember correctly, Google actually suggests to disable all functions of 3rd party keyboard apps while password typing (such as predictions, copy-paste shortcut, etc). Acutally even Gboard hides the edit panel while password typing.

You can however submit a feature request. But I don't know whether it's going to be implemented or not.

Thanks, Alpert, for your follow-up response. Given what you say, it doesn't sound as if there's much chance of a request being implemented. I guess I'll have to figure out how best to deal with this, and/or perhaps wait until ActiveWords or some similar program makes a version for Android.  (No, I'm not thinking of using any other keyboard but SwiftKey. ActiveWords is a Windows program that lets you replace text in all kinds of ways, from simple substitution to sophisticated scripting. Perhaps some of their methods might pass muster with Google, but who knows.  At the moment, they don't have a version for Android.)
