Better Than Swipe, But Still Some Work to GoRespondida
I used the Swipe keyboard for years before deciding to switch over to SwiftKey even I learned Swipe was soon to be orphaned. I can say without a doubt in my mind that 85% of all my phone frustrations were directly due to that program, however any time I thought of seizing back to tapping, I convinced myself it was a bad idea. So I now run SoftKey's standard (not beta) version on an Android 8.0, and wanted to provide you with a short list of things that whole not nearly as much, I'm starting to get annoyed by some of what I feel are bugs.
1. I mentioned this in a reply earlier, but I want it in my list, and it is VERY annoying. While despite all my SwiftKey spell checker functionality disabled, all the Android spell checker functions of, the keyboard insisted on changing words which I typed into some other word(s),which are almost always NOT what I was looking for. An I nursing something?
2. What dictionary or database of words are you using? The process which selects which words are recommended needs work. I delete fat more words than I add because of the number of obscure English words being offered. Users should never be looking at some word like 'Dunsmuir' in suggestions, I've never seen that word anywhere and will likely never use it.
3. One thing Swipe did a FAR better job than SwiftKeys of doing was guessing which words you are attempting to type. The difference was if I'm trying to type the word 'university', SwiftKeys had a very distinct pattern of covering as options different versions of the same word (in the case of our example: 'university', the word was offered as spelled, with the only other option being 'university's', which from a practical standpoint has very little value.
Swipe's approach, which instead provided the word as spelled correctly, but never seemed to repeat that word's possessive or other forms in the recommendations. Instead it appeared to determine if another word was possible based on slight input errors. So for our example, another term that would Swipe near or similar to 'university' could have been had the term 'trumpet' as a recommendation.
4. Spell checker is God awful. If I'm missing or have inserted where inappropriate, I feel the austen world be getting pretty close. Just to be clear, spell check and autocorrect are 2 different things.
That's it for now, thanks!!!!
