    @Frank Gore
I saw the images in my email notification so I know they went through, I doubt they publish them though. It's evident they don't care.

Hmm... if the post went through and then was purposely withdrawn by moderators, that means they do care. Just not in the way we want them to. We're certainly not getting any feedback from anyone "in charge".

With luck, this will get actual public coverage soon and SwiftKey will feel more consequences.

Edit: I know my post was once public because it received at least one upvote before falling into "pending approval".

I think this change should be optional. Definitely add and option for the old behavior and the new, opinions are very divided on what works best for the individual user.

E.g an option named : Automatically add a space after flowing - on/off

Guys a HUGE THANKS goes to All of You suggesting downgrade to version 6.5.3.35 via apkmirror!! It was dead easy, 2 minutes solution and my two weeks of frustration popped like a balloon.

I think if you roll out a new feature to which your existing users can't adapt even in several week's time, it's a sure sign you broke something. Maybe you're hoping to get more new users in return, but will sure lose the old ones with time. I do really hope someone listens and cares for us. Cheers.

Hmm... anyone remember when WordLogic sued SwiftKey over its prediction-related patents? This was almost 3 years ago. When did that get finalized? What was the ultimate decision? I kinda figured the Microsoft acquisition would put an end to that, but maybe not. Might that have something to do with this recent change in functionality?

I find this change extremely annoying. Bad form to change this very important feature, withou mentioning it and without an option to revert. As far as user experience goes this is a great way to lose users. And let's be honest, the user experience is like 90% of a mobile keyboard app.

Thanks for the tip! Backed up with titanium backup, uninstalled SwiftKey, sideloaded/installed the app, then restored data only and everything is back to normal.

Yeah I leaped to the same conclusion when I saw March 18th on there, but I guess I'm just not used to being in 2017 yet :D

Here's some interesting info regarding that case:

"Discussions were pushed forward and Microsoft shielded Swiftkey from any settlement by way of its RPX license to WordLogic's patents. Microsoft and RPX, both threatened WordLogic with sanctions if WordLogic does not withdraw from the case. A foreign company profits on the back of U.S. patented technology then moves to the U.S. and gets acquired by a large U.S. company – Microsoft, and Microsoft bullies the small U.S. company that created this technology ten years before Swiftkey existed. I guess this behavior is what Donald Trump means when discussing the problems in America" - Mr. Frank Evanshen, CEO WordLogic Corp."

That's right, the WordLogic CEO invoked Donald Trump when lamenting the loss of the case...

In any case, it doesn't look like this is the cause of SwiftKey's silence on the matter, unless WordLogic found another way to smother them in the meantime.

Cross linking to my other post - regardless of what you think about the changes, there's a serious bug in how the new behaviour handles flow after highlighting text.

I've used SwiftKey for years, I've been trying to get used to the new "feature" the past couple weeks, but it's just not growing on me. Does anybody know of a comparable keyboard?

Like others, I created an account here specifically to ask that the "feature" be made optional or reverted. Sideloaded 6.5.3.35 and the app is functional again. I've been a faithful user for over four years and the company's behavior here is just inexplicable.

I REALLY hate this new change. It adds a click for every single word I type! Your understanding of my swipe was just fine to begin with, and clicking through predictions was super efficient. I have uninstalled the app and am currently trying out a competitor. Please let me know if you can fix this!

Has anyone found an alternative? That has swipe typing and predicts as soon as you're done swiping in that word rather than having to click to see predictions for next word?

@Emily: I personally downloaded v6.5.3.35 from apkmirror.com, backed up SwiftKey using Titanium Backup (as I don't use cloud), uninstalled SwiftKey, installed v6.5.3.35, restored app-data only using Titanium Backup, and disabled auto-updates in Google Play Store. (as I've detailed in https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115000564265/comments/115000962189)

If you have cloud enabled in SwiftKey and/or do not have a rooted device (required for Titanium Backup), you could uninstall SwiftKey and install v6.5.3.35 and I believe it should sync your settings.

been using SwiftKey for years. This change has not been a help or improvement. I really like options, perhaps this behavior could be a toggle choice. But with no way to go back to prior behavior it has been a daily annoyance.

I'm another long-time user that had to make an account for this issue.
The update is incredibly annoying, and i will also revert to an old version if this is not fixed soon.
I can understand it might be nice for new users where the flow-predictions aren't very good, but i almost never go back to change the word i wrote. If SwiftKey doesn't get the correct word on the first try, the word is very seldom one of the 3 words anyway, so I'll just type it manually.

Also a long time user of swiftkey.  As a software developer, I'm astonished how any company can completely change the UI of their app without any sort of announcement or option to revert it.  Do you not have any sort of testing or quality control before pushing these updates out?  6 pages of negative feedback covering 3 weeks, numerous 1* reviews on google play, people uninstalling your app and you still haven't backed out this change!?

Oh wow. So the newly infuriating and overall craptastic behaviour SwiftKey has been showcasing the last couple of weeks... is a "feature"?

Why didn't anyone think that maybe it's users would want to at least be notified before you eliminated it's primary reason for being? That way we could choose not to update the app, avoiding enormous frustration.

My gf spent a good couple hours browsing the web and trying everything to "fix" what she thought to be a configuration problem or something she could otherwise affect. After the same occurred to me upon updating, I realized something was terribly wrong and ended up here.

I honestly expected to find a pinned thread notifying all SwiftKey users that a serious usability bug has been identified, developers are pulling double shifts and an updated release will be rolling out imminently... followed by profuse apologies and management offering to perform acts of self-harm in recompense.

Not only did each one of my meager expectations go unmet, but the balls swinging from you guys, calling it a feature, would psychologically devastate a rhinoceros.

I actually paid for SwiftKey, both of us did, it's been an irreplaceable tool for us since its release. I don't see the point anymore though, you might as well as tap like a pesant. I'll be removing SwiftKey and installing the previous APK, you know, the one that isn't terrible.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction here... How do I downgrade using an older apk, and where do I find it? I know it's already been posted, but Im 2 secs away from throwing SwiftKey away alltogether, a long time paying customer and all...

As a person who also paid for SwiftKey, I have kept an open mind about different features the development team has placed on their intellectual property. As a person who rarely uses flow typing, this update didn't effect me as much as most who have come here with negative feedback. This was an announced feature, and often times has helped me when I use flow typing. When it was soft rolled out to the beta users, with no announcement, almost all of the feedback that was received was positive. I do believe that making it a selectable option would be a good idea, as there is obviously some negative feedback of this feature change. As always when developing features and a major design application, there will be opposition, and patience is necessary when dealing with a change that can be implemented through options. As always, SwiftKey listens to and values the opinions of their users. Major development changes do not happen overnight, just like this update didn't happen overnight. Hopefully there will be a middle ground found soon, and suggestions can be put in as feature requests rather than threats to leave, uninstall, or roll back apks, which not only doesn't help the development team moving forward, it doesn't help the user as there are more things changed and added between apks that improve your experience as a user. Understand that SwiftKey monitors and listens to everyone in this forum, all the developers have access, and the media managers are on here daily. Sometimes listening is more valuable than inserting the official opinion, so remember that as well.
    Happy Typing everyone 👍👍

@Subliminal5oh2, I see you mentioned "When it was soft rolled out to the beta users, with no announcement, almost all of the feedback that was received was positive."  Can you point us to that?  From what I can see in these forums, this thread was the announcement and almost none of the feedback is positive.  And most of that non-negative feedback was really in the form of "it doesn't bother or affect me".  As soon as I received it in the Beta, I came here to report the "bug" and discovered this thread.  I was one of the first to respond.

I see your point about how development teams work, but we need SwiftKey's promise that the old behavior will return.

@Subliminal5oh2 I am a beta users, have been for years. I did not see this change go through beta at all. There is some unnecessary anger in this thread, granted, but it is a very significant change to force on people.

The main benefit of SwiftKey had always been it's prediction engine. By making this change they're essentially saying that predictions are no longer what people want, and corrections are more important. I very rarely make mistakes because the flow mechanism works so well. I do, however, use the predictions. Which have now been moved further away from me.

It's really, really irritating to have to completely change the way I have typed for years, and the silence from SwiftKey is deafening. You say they monitor this thread - all they need to do is post one thing saying "we hear you, we're working on it", and everybody's anger goes away.

I'm not sure if they're hearing us because yesterday they tweeted: "We are aware how it works. The point is to show you three possible predictions instead if auto inserting a possible wrong one."

I got slower typing as well. I can't type 2 words in a flow, I have raise my thumb and pressure space bar in order to the app get to know this word. I used to flow a complete sentence and now I go word by word. Bad "update".
