What I recommend to anyone who also has issues with this apparent stupidity is go back into Google Play or the App Store and give SwiftKey a one star rating ;maybe this will catch their developers ' attention. (and fix the extra space before the semicolon, and apostrophe).

    Wake up SwiftKey!

After two years they're never going to fix this - 1 star and uninstall for something better (Samsung's keyboard works well if you've got one).

I've always assumed this had to do with ;) et al, and although it's not such a problem for me because I don't use flow it's still somewhat annoying that : and ; don't delete the space before them like . and , do.
    Suggestion:
    1) A colon or semicolon after a word gobble the space before it and add a space after it, just like what other punctuation does, so that "blah_:" becomes "blah:_".
    2) A parenthesis after : or ; autocorrect this, so that "blah:_)" becomes "blah_:)_". You can always go back and undo this via suggestions.

There's no good excuse for them not to make it configurable (e.g. "Prefer emoji interpretation" vs "prefer grammar interpretation.") Modern phones have plenty of horsepower to support this UI tweak.
Now that I've learned MS owns SwiftKey, I won't feel bad about finding another corporate giant to track my keystrokes -- I mean about finding an alternate app.

One more vote for addressing the appendicitis. Emoji, once typed in may have its space treated otherwise. This would not even be AI, that is just a matter of simple settings.

The "official comment" on this is hilarious :"it's this way because it's always been this way". How dynamic, responsive and customer - focused that sounds. The comment also mis - interprets the problem :no - one wants to turn off the space after flow ;everyone wants the punctuation behaviour to be consistent across all types of punctuation. They (we) have been asking for it for over 3 years. Are you seriously going to posit (typed) emojis as a justification for this mis - behaviour? In 2020?!

Did you see how ridiculous the colons, semi - colons and hyphens in this post look? Do you not think people who receive text like this from me think "what second - rate keyboard is this idiot using?"?

C'mon guys ;stop messing about ;just fix it
