    Hi John,

Since the keyboard is crashing, we tend to suggest trying a fresh install and see if this helps.

The link Alpert posted suggested leaving some more detailed information. You left us some info, but knowing your SK version is very important as well as the exact app the crash is happening in.

Is it your phones stock SMS app or a third party one?

When submitting an issue, it's best to leave as much detail as you can.

    thanks,

    Ryan

I just installed the swiftkey app and am experiencing the same issue; selecting a gif from the emoji panel crashes Messaging immediately.  Here are the details:

    Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (N900 AT&T unlocked)
    Android 5.0 (Kernel version 3.4.0-4335446)
    SwiftKey 6.7.2.20
    Messaging (Default messaging app)

Also, I am using the Microsoft launcher instead of touchwiz.  And just before posting this, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

Samsung default SMS does not support GIF.

Please use another SMS app if you need to use GIF feature.

Thanks for replying so quickly.  What SMS apps are compatible with Swiftkey's keyboard GIFs?  I've been looking around but nothing I've found is really a replacement for SMS; they all use their own usernames and are closed systems.  Google Hangouts only uses your Google Voice number now, Skype requires the recipient to use the skype app also, WhatsApp, Discord, and Slack all are either not compatible with SMS or require IFTTT (or something like it) to interact with SMS.  I could go on, but this is what I've found so far and you might be able to see how from my perspective this is a bit confusing.

I'm looking for something identical to the default app (i.e. SMS messages sent to me come to that app), but also compatible with Swiftkey GIFs.  Is there something like that?  You seem to have one in mind.

I personally have 2 apps in mind: Textra, and Android message by Google.

    They both support GIF.

Thanks for your help, Al!  I'm trying Android Messages right now, but I may also have to try Textra.  Researching all of this has got me rethinking messaging in general.
