Prediction bar hidden

Hi all, I've used SwiftKey kb for a long time & still think it's the best kb for Android. With the trend toward more chat support and away from telephone support, e.g., Verizon support, etc., I've noticed that more often than not that is when the prediction bar (& toolbar) is inaccessible. For me, that is just when it is most important. I've checked the FAQs and tried various modes & layouts and either I'm missing something or the issue has not been addressed. IS it possible to access the Prediction bar (most important) and the toolbar (not nearly so) in these situations? Any help is greatly appreciated. Mike
