I am using SwiftKey version 184.108.40.206 on my Android phone (SM-G900t) running Oreo, version 8.1.0.
I understand how popular emojis are, but I don't utilize them, and the emoji key gets in my way. I often accidentally click on that key, and the emoji selection popup interrupts and seriously slows down my typing.
It is also inconvenient and disruptive to have the emoji popup be controlled by a long press on the Enter key. That key is right next to the punctuation key which I often long-press in order to get various punctuation marks, and I sometimes miss the punctuation key and accidentally long-press the Enter key. Again, the resulting unwanted emoji popup slows things down for me.
Is there any way that we can have an **option** to totally disable any and all emoji generation via the main keyboard? To be clear, I wrote "**option**", because I am simply asking for a way for those of us who dislike emojis to **optionally** disable them from within SwiftKey's settings. The default for users could be to have the current emoji functionality, and this disabling functionality would require us to opt out of emojis.
This will not prevent people from using the application as they do now. It will simply allow some of us to override the default emoji behavior in order to help our typing to be more efficient.
I've been a SwiftKey user for a couple years, but because I am now forced to deal with this unwanted emoji key on the main keyboard and the unwanted long-press emoji popup on the Enter key, I am abandoning SwiftKey, because it makes my typing too inconvenient.
I will continue to monitor the progress of the SwiftKey app, and if you folks ever allow us to **optionally** disable all keys on the main keyboard that relate to emojis, I will gladly go back to using this app.
Thank you for considering this request.
