Can you please send a screen shot so we can see. We have not changed any layouts.

Also, please list your SwiftKey version number.

I figured out how to get to the configuration screen to change the layout. Just in case any of your other users have the same problem and stumble upon this post, here is the answer:

When the keyboard is on the screen, look for the menu icon in the upper left (it has three little horizontal bars). Tap on it, then tap on Layout. Then you can choose compact, which will display a cell-phone sized keyboard in the bottom right (or left) corner, so your fingers don't have to travel so far to get to the different keys.

Unfortunately the remainder of the old keyboard area still will be opaque - it would be nice if you could see app content to the left of the compact keyboard, but that's not a deal breaker.

The problem I had was I reinstalled the app and was prompted with configuration details the first time I started it.  I was prompted for keyboard themes, keyboard size, number row option, arrow key option, but there was no prompt for layout, which to me was the most important option.  Swiftkey might want to consider putting that option up front.

    I have version 6.5.4.24.

Thank you for this Will. After making it compact as per your instructions I chose "undock" which got rid of the remainder blank area.

Thank you both for this info... Had exactly the same problem and your post gave me the info I was looking for.

I have a request however.  The Compact mode is what I need, but would really like to see an option for about 1/3 of my landscape sized tablet instead of about 1/4 of the screen size.  It would make typing much easier for me.  I would gladly pay for this feature in a pro version.

You easily have the best keyboard on the Android market.  My request would be a valuable option for many users that actually need to type on their tablets...... Thanks...
