Clipboard in Gmail acting weird.
For some reason some of the saved clipboard shortcuts are not transposing in Gmail. For instance, I set 1 to be a shortcut for my signature:
Vincent Costa
RE/MAX Competitive Edge
908-242-6782
Which worked perfectly here but in Gmail for some reason all it types is "2e". 2e. This is very recent. Within the past few days. I don't know why.
Hi Vincent,
Sorry for the bad experience.
Have you updated SwiftKey recently? Can you share us the current SwiftKey version number on your phone and android version?
Also, if you are able to record this issue, that will help a lot! I will send you the details if you're OK to do the recording.

Take a look at the video here: https://goo.gl/photos/bJVf4Ta5pwZrfGZq9
You will see I assigned the number 1 to be my signature. In Google keep it works fine. In Gmail it acts funny. I am using version 6.5.5.30
1
Android 7.0
Also, some other shortcuts are working in Gmail and others are not working. It's weird. It was all working great a few days ago.
Thank you for the video, I'll share it with mod team.
Hi Vincent,
What is your SK version number - this is always a good bit of info to include when submitting an issue.
Has this ever worked in Gmail before?
Swift Key Version is 6.5.5.30
Yes. It was working beautifully with Gmail. No issues. Just within the past 2 weeks or so.
I have just duplicated this issue it will be reported and repaired. For reference, can you try saving the shortcut as a letter instead of a number and see if that fixes the issue?
I tried changing it to a letter and saved the same exact signature. It did the same exact thing.
Any updates on this issue. I still do not see it resolved.
Having a related problem with Google Chrome. No access to keyboard clipboard in password log in boxes. No such difficulty with JBAK Keyboard, but I prefer to use SwiftKey because of the predictability.
Access to the prediction bar in password fields is expected behavior. This is because SwiftKey does not "learn" in passwords fields.
It's all for security, so with that in mind, pasting from clipboard is also not included.
Nonetheless, it should be my decision how I use the clipboard regarding matters of security, not yours to radically enforce such antiquated draconian measures. Surely, it could be set as a default value, which I could have the option to change. Unfortunately, offering useful flexible options to users beyond colorful keyboards eludes Swiftkey.
@Vincent the bug has been reported to the development team and will be worked on, hopefully soon and I personally apologize for the inconvenience of this particular issue. I can say it is a rule of thumb to never provide a deadline or date of fix as it's very fluid and this could be a core issue with the clipboard prediction so may (worst case) require an overhaul of functionality. I have also reported the issue to Google and Gmail, as I do not have this issue with any other email client so it may be a problem on their end. Hopefully it will be resolved soon, I appreciate your patience!
I'm having exactly the same issues as Vincent, pasting clips into in the Android Gmail app..but no problem with pasting into Inbox for Gmail.
I have a Nexus 6P and a Note 4..both exhibit the same issue.
Cheers..
I have the same issue. Has there been a fix? I'm running lollipop and the latest SwiftKey keyboard as of today.
I noticed that the clips that are affected are the ones with multiple lines of text where I used the return key.
I just did an experiment and it is true. Gmail does not like clips saved to the clipboard that use multiple lines of text including a return key.
