Samsung Galaxy A7 2018
Android 8
SwiftKey version 7.2.4.22
When using immersive mode (hide the navigation buttons on screen) in instagram DM Stories, the keyboard covers the input field it does rise from the bottom to be above SwiftKey, it stays hidden behind SwiftKey

Not sure what do you mean by immersive mode. Is this a Samsung feature?
Because when I test on Pixel and HTC phones the input box is not covered by SwiftKey
Immersive Mode (full screen mode) simply hides the navigation bar (back home menu) buttons when not in use
I read your description several times, I got a few questions:
1. Not sure what you mean by "Instagram DM stories", there's only "Story", if you entered it, you can either write a message (I believe this is what you mean) or send the story in a DM.
2. OK for the immersive mode, but it is by default in Instagram story. I don't know how you can quit this mode?
3. If you tap to send a message, the keyboard will pop up together with the nav bar, pushes the input box upwards, but this is still in the immersive mode you said because no status bar. (which you showed in your attached screenshot). Am I getting it right that you're showing the case when it's working?
4. By tapping your link, I see the nav bar is hidden and there's no grayed out layer on the story. I'm guessing somehow you exit the input box. And that's why it didn't show up and you think it's covered.
My suggestion would be reinstall SwiftKey and Instagram.
First, i want to thank you for your answers and helping me.
In instagram Story, you could write message, there is where the problem is.
Immersive mode is a feature in Android, where you can hide the navigation bar, the three buttons, MENU(=_), HOME (⏹️), and BACK(◀️) buttons.
When i tap to send a message, the keyboard pops up, but the input box stays hiden, it doesn't go upwards.
I don't know if this is SwiftKey problem, or Android problem
I understood about the immersive mode, but I meant it's enabled by default in Instagram Story.
Can you send us a screen record video? Because this is the very first report we received.
And if you can, I suggest you to reinstall SwiftKey and Instagram.
I already reinstall SwiftKey and Instagram.
Tried with Samsung keyboard and it was the same so, it is either Android,Instagram or Samsung problem
If you want a video I can send one to you
I have same problem with Instagram, my phone is LG v20 with Android 7 how can I solve this issue, it is very anonnying
Same problem on 'edit post'
Keyboard cover text area, and I can't scroll down
Honor View 10 Lite Android 10
Display 6.5" FullHD+
For anyone stumbling on this thread from a Google search: I was experiencing this issue on my Pixel with Gboard as well.
The fix for me was going into navigation settings and toggling gesture navigation off (then back on after I confirmed the Instagram issue was resolved).
It seems this is related to whatever your device's form of "immersive" mode is where the navigation buttons are hidden.
I have a new Samsung Galaxy A71 and when I edit a post on Instagram, it hides the text area, just like Mercury Lampe was saying. I've read many suggestions but usually they don't apply to my phone or don't solve the issue. Please help us solve this. I even tried the default Samsung keyboard and the issue persists.
Hi Lisa, have you tried to reinstall your Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard and Instagram app?
Have you tried to resize your SwiftKey Keyboard?
Hi Deniz, I have tried resizing, that doesn't help. I just uninstalled and reinstalled both, it worked normally (didn't cover what I was editing) but as soon as I added a custom background to the keyboard, it went back to covering up the text input part of the screen. I then switched to a default keyboard and that didn't fix the problem. I then left the swiftkey installed, deleted and reinstalled instagram but the problem persists. It seems like it only worked with a freshly installed swiftkey with no customization.
Hi Lisa thanks. Have you also tried to change your device's navigation settings to see if this helps?
Ah ok, when I hide the lower Navigation buttons it seems to work. It's too bad that seems to be the problem, I prefer having the buttons. Oh well! thank you for your help!
Hi Lisa glad to hear this worked for you, thank you for keeping us posted.
