    Hello,

Sorry I don't fully understand your question. Do you want to remove one or several specific suggestions, or you don't want suggestions at all?

I'm afraid this is not possible to disable suggestions in SwiftKey.

SwiftKey is designed for fast daily communication on touch screen device, the autocorrect and suggestion is the key to achieve that.

    Dear Ketan,

I had the same request and found a solution, even with several posts claiming it was not possible to disable this function.

Solution: deactivate all your languages in Settings -> Languages.

Then you will see a message on same location of suggestions (on top of numbers row): "No language selected" (I'm translating from Portuguese)

And no more sugestions will superimpose on your text.

Hope it will work on your case.

Not sure why doing "no language selected", but the language model is the most important feature of SwiftKey, as well as some good keyboard apps on the market.

A keyboard without suggestions can hardly exist today.

Well, I usually use the suggestions with the SwiftKey (or other keyboard).

I just remove the suggestions, because my old mum (almost 90y!) don't get used to it so easily... That's why...

    Not my common option.

    Greatings!

Just disable autocorrect and the predictions / suggestions won't bother you.

Nice suggestion, Candido. Alpert, you're being condescending and making your brand seem un-open to improvement. There are other qualities that make a good keyboard app besides speed. People want different customizations for different reasons. Having the extra screen space might be valued more highly by some users. That's why customizations exist: to give users the experience they value most as individuals.

If I said something annoys you, I am sorry for that.

But the "improvement" that SwiftKey did and does, is focusing on fast daily communication. I am not sure how disabling auto correct and suggestion would improve that unless you have 100% typing accuracy all the time. Speaking of which is not the case for most people. .

One step back, people choose SwiftKey because we have one of the best prediction and suggestion logics among the keyboard apps, by turning it off, in my opinion, we're no long get benefits from SwiftKey, and would make SwiftKey no different from other keyboard apps.

One more thing, you can absolutely do as Candido said, choose what you like and want. We surely listen to users, but in terms of adding every customization that user asked, that would be mission impossible for us. Not just us, for every dev and programmer. I hope you can understand that. And the channel where you can submit feature request is always here.

There is a long discussion now because suggestions on SwiftKey.

Definitely it is the best option for any keyboard on modern devices, I agree with Alpert point of view.

My suggestion, or even easier like Hritwik said, disabling autocorrect, will disable predictions and I’ve done it only for an old person that can’t easily adapt to new technologies.
And it must be an option to enable/disable according user preferences, like Johnny said.

I personally use autocorrect and suggestions.

Maybe this is not the right place to do it, but would like that the new function of Clipboard area, where you can add your frequent used words, email address or whatever, could also work on Password field.
Is it for safety reasons that suggestions are disabled on this field?

    Greetings!

As for the topic of clipboard, I believe we are planning something. I will let you know once it's ready.

I find the autosuggestions popup that appears underneath a total nuisance and I cannot see a way to disable it. On Android, it keeps preventing me from editing the word that I am typing, providing suggestions that are never, ever appropriate (I really mean it: not a single time did I find them useful in any way). Since it gets focus automatically and can only be dismissed by typing on the "back" button, it just makes typing a painful experience. I really don't see how this feature could be desirable to anyone. Note: the feature that I am talking about does not get disabled if autosuggest is off. Working on a Huawei device with EMUI 5.

    Thanks

Hello Stefan, I once had a Micromax android which had a similar functionality. Would you like to provide us with a screenshot of what you are exactly trying to commission about?

As far as to my knowledge, it's not related to SwiftKey. It's the user dictionary that recognises that a word is not in the saved dictionary, and is potentially incorrect. That feature is annoying, and disabling 'user dictionary' from application manager usually does the trick.

Hritwik, thank you so much for your suggestion, you've been really helpful with your suggestion that it may not be a Swiftkey problem but rather an Android problem. It seems to be the case, indeed. For those who may still be annoyed by this, it seems to be resolved by deselecting the "Spelling correction" option under settings. Attached a screenshot of how obnoxious  autosuggest popup looks like.

I guess I'll make this as simple as I can: I am CONSTANTLY bumping the suggestion bar on the top which then forces me to delete (sometimes several) words.
Increasing the size of the entire keyboard is not a reasonable option, because I don't have any issue with the size of the letters/numbers, and I don't want the keyboard taking up half the screen. Even the option to make just the suggestion bar smaller would be a step in the right direction, and would probably be the choice for me personally.
I love SwiftKey and have been using it on my last 4 or 5 phones over the last several years, and I very rarely (intentionally) use the suggestion bar at the top, so I have no idea why you'd say something like "we're no longer getting the benefits of SwiftKey [by turning it off]".

The prediction bar, at the top of the keypad - it's too big, and I either need to make it smaller or go away completely.

Thanks Candido for your tip, it worked perfectly. As for Alpert, you're just very unhelpful, the question wasn't about your opinion.

Update: it worked but then I couldnt use any accent and the keyboard started to suggest words Ive already used. Ive found the best solution: to download another keyboard.

I created an account purely to comment on this. Currently I can see nothing I am writing as the keyboard has pushed the text box up so high that it is not visible. Anyway, some people prefer not to use predictive text/autocorrect but enjoy the keyboard itself. It would not be difficult to remove the annoying box that says 'No keyboard language is set' with a prompt to 'SELECT LANGUAGE.' It should be obvious that if no language is selected then the user does not want to use that feature.

I find in many apps it ends up blocking text boxes and doing more to slow my typing than speed it up. I see threads like this have been posted for years yet they aren't doing anything about it. Might look into another keyboard soon.

Ive used swiftkey for a month and was really disappointed. It came preinstalled with my new xiaomi phone. I like some of the features in swiftkey, one would be the swipe left/right to change language. But the spelling auto suggestion was really annoying, sometimes it drops down my keyboard and left me with the "copy, paste, cut, etc" menu and stuck there. Also it does block the keyboard too by the suggestion pop up as shown by Stefan Garmin post. Glad it could be uninstalled from my phone.

It's funny how the moderator keeps ignoring requests from users and tries to push the idea that "Suggestion is the Future! All Praise Suggestions!".

Dude. It's time for you to wake up from your "Suggestions Dreams" and come to the real world where people used Microsoft Word for decades without any suggestions.

You are wrong, and if you do not understand why, just stop thinking about it. Accept it without understanding it.

--------- Why your Suggestion Bar is annoying and should be removed:

    1. Your Suggestion bar is annoying. It takes space I could use to increase the size of the keyboard.

    2. It's wrong 99% of the time. I never used that bar once in 3 months I am using swiftkey. (If I could uninstall it, I would).

    3. Not only it's useless, but I keep pressing the suggestion bar accidentally all the time forcing me to keep erasing.

    Bottom Line:

What you call "future of typing, suggestion, etc..." not only doesn't help typing but instead slows down typing time and forces people to re-type all the time.

    ----------

I hate those rtrds who think they know the future or what people need and come up with BS Softwares and have the audacity to defend their work although it's complete garbage.

Just give us the option to make the suggestion bar AND space bar smaller. I am CONSTANTLY bumping both the suggestions AND the space bar, which always disrupts my train of thought, as it forces me to stop and erase oftentimes SEVERAL words.
There is literally no good reason to not allow this functionality. None.

I can't even uninstall this crap cause it's Sony's default keyboard. And they pick an App on which Devs think that their Apps know better what words you want to use.

I can't think of enough Insults to write right now. Oh, wait, can you please suggest us some?

I suggest that you should be flexible to give us an option when to turn it on or off. Coz its annoying in cases that you don't need it.. It also distracts me when reading what i am typing. I think it will not affect your objective to help if you give us the option to turn it off. Not everyone needs the word suggestions all the time. Thank you.

I disabled it using the roundabout "disable language" method suggested by other posters above (thank you!).  Space to read what you and the person you're replying to have already texted is of paramount importance on a mobile device, so I disable unnecessary features when I can.  The prediction bar is very distracting, and I have literally never, ever used it in any keyboard app---ever.  I can text way faster than I can scan a bunch of suggestions (which are rarely be the word I need, anyway).  How sad that the support staff for a keyboard app doesn't understand that making something efficient for the general population requires multiple options because everybody texts differently, so there is no set way that works for everyone.  I use SwiftKey solely because it's one of the only keyboard apps that allows me to text with very few typos, which essentially eliminates the need for any kind of "help" to type my message.  Making it possible to text quickly and accurately is far more efficient than all these roundabout ways of trying to "guess" what a person might type next, which will NEVER be completely accurate.

No, your're not right! I want to disable all suggestion features, because your software is SLOW on my device (snapdragon 430). it is ignores some typed letters, because it's trying to find suggestion from database..

I see intention on not including of this feature (remove all suggestions).

switching to google's one, which I hate more than yours.

Seriously, how arrogant. The prediction feature is annoying. ANNOYING. Create an option to disable it. Prediction features are for people who are too lazy to learn how to spell. Must certainly include the development team, then. To not create an option to disable the feature represents everything that is wrong with the direction our world is in.
