Same for me. I notice it when selecting a suggested word from the prediction bar. Usually doesn't work after that. Just keeps adding spaces.

Same here. Last few weeks, no period added after double space

SwiftKey has now pushed this bug to the public version. Quick Period doesn't work in Hangouts and doesn't work in this online forum (ironic).

Yes! This is a big problem for me that happens both in the beta and the public release!

It also quit working for me in recent weeks. I'm so used to having it that I'm now going to start looking at alternative keyboards after years of paid SwiftKey use. This doesn't seem like a problem that would be so hard to fix, guys.

Seems to me to be a problem that occurs when you double space after a word has been selected from the word list.

I just submitted a but report related to quick period.

It seems that if you also have "Show prediction after Flow" enabled, quick period doesn't always work. "Show prediction after Flow" adds a space after you enter a word using flow, and if you press space again I would expect to get a "quick period" but it doesn't happen.

I sent an email to support explaining that this is the behavior that is occurring, but not what I, as a user, would expect.

Now that I read through this, the same probably happens after selecting a word from the prediction bar. I sent another email expanding on the issue.

Unfortunately this isn't the case for me. I don't use that setting

Well your situation is similar, regardless of whether or not you use that setting. There is an automatic space put in after the word in both situations, and it seems that this automatically entered space is what is causing the issue. If support replies to my email, I can help them understand how to reproduce it and then they can investigate the cause.

Definitely a bug in the current version. I just updated last night and the quick period stopped working.

Swiftkey responded to the email that I sent. Here's the relevant part:

"We've made some intricate tweaks based on the back of a lot of research that controls period behavior. The change is simply that quick period is now time based. So you'll need to hit the space bar twice in quick succession to get a period."

    (Emphasis added by me)

I tested this, and it does seem to work if you do it quick enough and always double-tap space bar (even if there's already a space there,) but it doesn't seem intuitive, and I told them that.

    They also said the following:

"I understand that this current update may not be your preferred full-stop functionality.  At the time we don't have any plans to alter it further, however, I would be more than happy to submit a feature request for consideration in a future version if you would like for me to do so?"

To which I basically said yes, it would be nice to return it to the old behavior because that behavior makes more sense to most users. Hopefully they'll listen if enough of us complain about this change.

What an idiotic change. I'm going to be sending a feedback email as well.

I just started experiencing this problem after the latest update as well. Please SwiftKey team! Return the keyboard period to its former glory!
