[Main thread] GIF inserts as URL
回答済みWhen I attempt to insert a GIF in a text message from the SwiftKey keyboard, it only inserts a URL to the GIF, not the GIF. This started happening after the latest big update (couple days now).

I also just installed the new Microsoft swiftkey app and gifs are working!!! Samsung s9 just in basic texting app, newest version of swiftkey
Maybe I spoke too soon. I've been able to use most of the GIFs I selected without the URL showing up, until yesterday. I tried a couple that were for Homer Simpson and the URL appeared again. I switched to GBoard keyboard and was able to select the ones I wanted. In your settings for keyboard you can check the box for adding an icon to the bottom right corner and use that to switch between keyboards. It appears when you put the cursor in the box to enter text.
The app Microsoft SwiftKey is version 7.5.5.19. I had always used just SwiftKey, but there was an upgrade that made it Microsoft SwiftKey. My Android phone made me select it since regular SwiftKey was no longer available. If you have the old version check in the Play or Apple store to see if you can either get an upgrade or reinstall. Maybe since it's Microsoft you might not be able to get an upgrade on an iPhone; just guessing.
Another app I use is Gboard, the Google keyboard. Same story, may not be available on an iPhone.
When I insert a gif into discord it once again shows as a URL. This keeps flipping between working and not working
They have known about this problem for more than 3 years and haven't fixed it. I am giving up, while I like swiftkey and have used it since I got my first smart phone, I will go to gboard. Shame really.
Hi there,
Sorry for the trouble - This can happen for two reasons: because they exceed the maximum allowable file size, or certain networks impose limits which we can’t control. In the first instance we encourage users to download and use an alternative to their stock messaging app. A popular recommendation is Google's Android Messages app.

Hope this helps.
This also happens in Discord. All it needs to do is just throw in the real giphy link, not that dumb bing spam link. There is no need to upload it there.
