I'm and some of my friends are also facing this problem.

Just came here to report it due to, as you said, I've been a few months with this bug and it's really annoying.

    Luckily you've perfectly described it.

Thanks a lot, I hope this might be fixed soon.

Thanks Pablo, yeah it's pretty frustrating as it's a very common thing to do whilst typing. If you go to the Play Store and uninstall the updates to Swiftkey, as well as ensuring you turn the automatic updates off for the app, you'll have no issues. It's not great and you may lose some of your data, but it's a temporary fix.

A quick update for the developers too: I have today updated my phone's software from Android 8.1.0: Huawei's EMUI build, version CLT-L09 8.1.0.159(C782)

I am now running Android version 9: EMUI 9.0.0, Build: 9.0.0.168 (C782E3R1P9), and the typing issue is still present.

Thanks in advance for looking into it.

This is a known issue we are looking into. It happens when switching from any layout to another and quickly hitting any key.

In your scenario, you know there is a better way of accessing punctuation by pressing and swiping on the period key, right?

There is no need to switch to the 123 layout.

The only trouble shooting at this point is to just type a little bit slower (lame response) but this is all we can suggest while we look into it.

    Thanks for the response Ryan.

Yeah I'm aware of the alternatives to using punctuation, you know how it is - When your "muscle memory" gets used to a certain method its difficult to train yourself otherwise is all. I'm just using the stock application without updates until it's fixed instead.

Either way I'm happy to see that it's a known issue and is being looked into. I'm sure it'll be resolved soon as a result.

I believe the issue is now resolved. I updated my Swiftkey version recently by accident and didn't experience the issue any more. I've also since upgraded to a P30 Pro and I'm yet to come across the issue here either.

So far so good. Thanks dev's. 👏
