SwiftKey on Android 5 Lollipop lock screen issue
Hello,
on Monday I've upgraded my Nexus 5 to Android 5.0 Lollipop official factory image (clean installation). Now, when I recieve a message via WhatsApp and
hit quick reply in lock screen WhatsApp notification, SwiftKey go crazy and starts to "flicker". There is no other solution but rebooting the phone, which is
very annoying. I've switched therefore to default Android keyboard and everything works fine. Could anyone confirm that issue?
Thanks in advance,
JK
For issues with devices running Android 5.0:
Please go to SwiftKey Support and fill out a Support Ticket. We have exhausted all user level tweaks to fix these issues. Being that they still reoccur, at this point it would be better for you guys to inform the developers directly via a Support Ticket!
Thank you so much for all the feedback and I'm sorry that us VIP's weren't able to assist in providing a solution!!
Regards,
Mike

i do have exactly the same problem with my Nexus 5, Whatsapp and Swiftkey....
In my experience, using what's app on my Nexus 9, the application (whatsapp and hangouts) lags but not my keyboard.

flickering appears just with WhatsApp notification pop-up on lock screen and trying to answer with SwiftKey... no problems with Whatsapp application and Swiftkey in "normal" mode
I can confirm this issue. I have a Nexus 5 running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) with SwiftKey installed. I use ChompSMS and when replying from the lock screen the keyboard flickers every time I press a letter. I also tried the SMS app Textra and it has the same issue. This does appear to be related to SwiftKey because if I switch to the stock Android keyboard it works without issue.
I'm having the same lockscreen flickering problem with my Nexus 4 running Android 5.0. SwiftKey and Textra.
Same issue here on a Nexus 5. One way to work around this issue is to make it so your lockscreen is not locked (no password, pattern, etc). I know it is not safe, but it works.
UPDATE: This solution worked for a bit, but I get the screen flickering again. Switch back to Google keyboard until it is fixed, hopefuly soon.
Same issue with this app. Thought it was Textra but used Google Keyboard and doesnt get flickering issue when text is received.
Please fix.
Has everyone here downloaded and installed the new SwiftKey Market app update?
Let me know if you have and if there are improvements.
It seems a lot more stable and quicker to react than even the beta. It closes and opens faster as well.
Thanks for the feedback and please let us know if the update solved problems!
Kind regards and thanks!
Mike

I'm using version 5.1.0.60 and I'm having the same problem using Swiftkey on my Nexus 5. A reboot on the phone is the only way to get the phone going again. I'm now using google keyboard and it's fine.
Using Version 5.1.0.60 as well on my Nexus 5. Can't find any update. Still having the issue.
Thank you all for your feedback and again, please make sure to go to SwiftKey.support.com and fill out a support ticket.

Same issue here. Nexus 4 running Android 5.0 stock, lockscreen going crazy with Whatsapp notifications and latest Swiftkey enabled. Google keyboard works fine.
Same issue here. I am running Swiftkey 5.1.0.60 on a Nexus 5 with Android 5.0 Lollipop rooted. To recreate the flicker, use ChompSMS, receive a text with the Quick Reply popup. Once you click "Reply" the screen flickers indefinitely.
Help!
I'm having the flickering issue with quick reply windows in lock screen, too (it's not just with whatsapp, it happens with any app with quick reply feature). No problem with Google Keyboard.
I'm filling out the support ticket, but I'll leave a screen record here just for reference:
Swiftkey version: 5.1.1.66 on Nexus 5 (Lollipop)
Same problem here.
SwiftKey and Textra installed.
Does this happen to you with Textra? Because when I tap on the notification (not Textra's floating notification, the system one in lock screen) the phone unlocks, so I don't see this problem with that app. To me it happens with Whatsapp and Telegram, those are the apps I've tried, but other users have reported seeing it with Chomp SMS. So I assum it happens with any app that has quick reply in lock screen.
I have this problem with Textra 2.20 + Swift Key 5.1.1.66 on 2 x Nexus 5 devices.
hope this helps, I hope the bug gets fixed soon!

Does anyone know whether Lollipop 5.01 cures this problem?

This has been reported to happen with other keyboards in XDA Forums , so apparently it's not an Issue with Swiftkey, although I don't see this behaviour with the Google keyboard.
Textra just released an update fixing this problem, which suggests that it's app related. But I still don't understand how do people see this with Textra, since when I tap on the notification the device unlocks itself. To me it happens with Whatsapp and Telegram (I haven't tried other apps), but in this thread someone said it happens with ChompSMS too.
It doesn't.
Thank you all for the responses and feedback.
Based on everything I have researched a lot of people are having this issue, like Adrianriff said, and it is across multiple keyboards, apps, and devices. The common issue is that it happens inconsistently, and always with a notification from the kockscreen.
As cited in the article from XDA above, it's not exclusive to SwiftKey, nor is SwiftKey the issue.
If newer versions of Android or the applications involved help to resolve the issue, please post back here and let the other users in this thread know what changed to fix your experience!
Again thanks guys! Your feedback is invaluable to the betterment of SwiftKey!

Please join and use the most current beta app. We believe we have sorted out the fix for this and can be tested.
Go here for details about getting the beta
I tried to sign up but Google Play says I can't access the content, and lists a few possible reasons.
Did you opt in for the beta program through Google+ adrianrff?

Using the beta now. I'm not able to test this particular issue at the moment, but I'll post here when I can.
Everything is going smooth with this version so far. I have not seen the flickering problem, which is great!
So what was the problem exactly? Is this Lollipop's fault? I ask because I made about post about this in Google Groups too, and they've asked me to let them know of any app that has managed to fix this in order to help identify the problem. Maybe they can find an overall fix for people with other keyboards.
Note: double sound and vibration, and the volume changing issue is still there.
