Keeps replacing "I'm" with "I" even with autocorrect turned off.
С ответомI cannot for the life of me get SwiftKey to stop replacing "I'm" with "I". It happens about 50% of the time and makes for some incredibly odd sounding sentences like "hey I going to the store" or "I on my way".
If I just repeatedly flow "I'm" this happens: "I I'm In I I'm I I'm I I'm I I'm I'm" where it alternates between the two, this is after telling it "do not predict I again".
I even turned off autocorrect and it STILL does it.
Device is an AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S8 running Android 7.0, using SwiftKey Beta 6.6.2.25. Steps to reproduce: try to type (using flow) "I'm".
Hey Kyle,
I did some testing on an S8 and it looks like there are a few situations where you can flow "I'm" and it shows up as such in the text field, but where SwiftKey thinks "I" was the correct prediction you meant to type and corrects to it when you flow the next word or press space. We will investigate this further with the dev team.
For the short term, I think Michael nailed it that you can switch to showing predictions rather than flow corrections under Typing -> Typing & Autocorrect, and it should be more likely to not correct away from I'm.
Thanks for writing in about this, we'll keep you updated on what we find out
Hi,
Sorry to hear that.
Can you please share more information by following the instructions below?

Thanks

I updated my post with your suggestions!
Thank you for the update!
I don't own an S8, but I tried to reproduce on my HTC 10 also Android 7.0 and 6.6.2.25 SwiftKey Beta.
Can you please check one more thing for me? In SwiftKey settings, typing, typing & auto-correct, then scroll down a bit, to find "show predictions after flow". Is it toggled on?
Hi, I'm a different user with the same issue (Samsung Galaxy S8 on Sprint, Android version 7.0, Swifkey version 6.6.1.20), turning ON "show predictions after flow" seemed to fix the issue! Repeatedly swiping "I'm" no longer alternates between I and I'm.
Thanks for verifying, Michael.
Sorry for the delay. I was able to resolve the issue by toggling the setting that Michael mentioned. Thank you!!
Glad to hear it's working!
Happy typing!
I had the same issue on S7 with Android 7.0. I tried the above suggestion and it got worse. Now I can't even flow "I'm" at all. It immediately inputs "I ". I just installed the app.
I am still having this problem even after I toggle it on for "Show predictions after flow" It sometimes works if I do it very slow.
Any further suggestions? Should autocorrect be on or off? Either doesn't seem to change anything for me.
Thanks.
As of January 2018, this problem still persists on the Galaxy Note 8 with the latest version of SwiftKey.
Me too. This is very very very frustrating! I even reset all of the Swiftkey data and it keeps happening!
Same here with note 8. Makes it unusable.
Same problem on Galaxy S8, Sprint. With "show predictions after flow" turned off, "I'm" swipes correctly, but then gets changed into "I" after my next word. With it turned on, "I'm" swipes incorrectly as "I" from the get go at least half the time. This will force me away from SwiftKey (again).
I using a Samsung s8 here and look at that... it always changes I'm to I unless I explicitly spacebar between words. I have autocorrect turned off and the setting that "fixes" it makes the keyboard even more frustrating to use.
If found this thread while looking for a fix. This has been an issue for months now and turning on or off the show predictions option hasn't helped me either. I love this keyboard other than this constant annoyance.
Edit: deleting all of my data and my account and reinstalling the app seemed to fix the issue for a few days but it came back. I'm done with this, I've uninstalled swiftkey and installed google's gboard keyboard and it's been fantastic.
Hi Samsung S7 and I want to echo everyone else - love SwiftKey aside from this one issue. Thanks for looking into it.
Please fix this! This is very annoying. I swype a lot and it almost always changed I'm to I.
I trying

Hello! I am having this issue as well.
I'm using swiftkey version 7.0.2.16, on a Samsung Galaxy s9, running Android 8.0.0
Has there been any progress with this bug? Swiftkey is my favorite keyboard, but this bug is serious enough that I won't be using it until it's fixed.
Ethan Zhou, don't bother waiting for a fix. I waited months and still nothing. Google's gboard keyboard has great swipe features and I've switched to that and highly recommend it.
Yeah, it's been almost a year. I'm going to uninstall SwiftKey (again) and probably switch back to Google. I'm certainly going to miss the number row and arrow keys, but SwiftKey obviously has no interest in fixing the bugs we're experiencing.
Google's gboard has the number key row option now, though I do miss the arrow keys they have a left/right feature that lets you swipe left and right on the spacebar to move the cursor.
I used to love the Swift key until it REFUSED to use the word"I'm". I will no longer use this worthless app. Sadly, that was the only problem and everything else worked great but I can't handle it anymore. I now have Google Gboard which way better. Thanks for the advice. At least I can now say "I'm not pissed off!"
And don't bother clicking and holding the I to remove it. Doesn't work either. I literally tried everything
Pixel XL 2 user here. Having the exact same problem. This only seemed to happen recently. It seems like such a simple fix. What's the hold up??
It makes me sound like and idiot when I typing emails.
I'm pretty sure it happens to those of us who graze the space key when we're typing words like them and I'm. I try to steer clear of it, but I can't. Cursed skinny fingered typers!
I've tried all the tips and am also having this issue. I've settled on downloading a new keyboard for now. It drives me insane, I never realized how much I use "I'm" in a sentence till this issue started.
FYI same damn thing on a Huawei P9, seems like the prediction engine doesn't work properly for that one word, yet surely there is a difference between taping one letter and swyping I+m, come on SwiftKey - fix this!
Extremely frustrating on my Note 8. There has to be a way around this. I've been using SwiftKey for so long and I don't want to go looking for another keyboard but I am open to suggestions if anyone has any.
