Ryan disqualifying my question is not right. Trying to understand is its function. Whatsapp has integration with the tenor, which SwiftKey inhibits. I'm talking to the right company.
I literally just came to SwiftKey Support to request this. It's the only reason I switch keyboards on my phone is for GIFs... It's also the one clear advantage any keyboard has over SwiftKey.
This is a must-have feature. I go through the annoying process of switching to GBoard just to send GIFs, but Swiftkey is otherwise superior. The combination of both would eliminate any need to switch off of Swiftkey.
I would also like to see this feature added. This is becoming a common feature and is currently the reason I have switched back to GBoard from Switfkey which I otherwise find superior to any other Android keyboard.
When I try to use this to reply to a text message it kicks me out of the text message that I was replying to and starts a new message. Please fix this!
Please make sure if the text message end supports gif file. Most of them don't. The gif support on SwiftKey is for instant messenger, like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, etc,
GIFs are not supported by all apps. It is up to the app dev to support the new Android rich image content API.
If they don't have it and you insert a GIF, we seem to be defaulting to the old school Android share option. Where you pick the app and then the conversation.
This is a work around. I suggest you message that app dev and ask them to support the new API or find a new SMS app.
In turn, we could just turn off GIFs in non-supported apps.
So would you rather not have GIF functionality in some apps or have it default to an older share style?
The app supports gifs. When it opens up the new message it has the gif attached and I have to type in the person's name again to get it to send to them.
I would also love gif search option and for some reason on my Galaxy S7 when I go to add it to a text message instead of just adding it, it makes me put a recipient in a whole new message and send it. Maybe it's just me? Or the phone idk.
Thanks! Love it otherwise.
Hi there,
Do you mean GIF support?
Alpert
Yes, Gif suport by tenor, in whatsapp.
Hello,
I wanted to create ticket for you but the access won't work from my side.
Here's the link to the VIP Community about GIF support, you can join the conversation there. But I don't know if the provider is Tenor or not.
Alpert
Based off your info, not sure what this has to do with SwiftKey.
Tenor and WhatsApp are not SwiftKey. Are you sure you are reaching out to the right company?

I have updated your request and title to where it becomes more obvious what you are asking and is searchable to other users.
You want gif support.

C'mon gang, let's make it happen!
Ditto on the response from Ammon, I much prefer SwiftKey's keyboard but not having the built-in gif feature makes me switch back in messengers.
Yes please!! add gif support like Gboard.
Thanks
Yes, I totally agree. Gif support from within the keyboard... like the was GBoard does it. Please, and thank you!
Agreed with Ammon.

Hello everyone,
Your requests are well noted.
Stay tuned.

Same here. Longtime Swiftkey user but I have switched to Gboard for the GIF support. I would love to see it added in Swiftkey.
GIF entry is now live in SwiftKey beta

Great progress! Good job dev team. The next step is searchable gifs!
Love it! Ya'll are already loving it.
More features to come. =]
It's great but please support gif searches!
@Max,
Like Ryan said: more features to come. ; )

edit: factual reasons

Galaxy S7 Sprint
Android 7.0
Stock messaging app
then that is not proper support. Proper support would mean the GIF would just directly insert.
I don't expect any stock SMS app to properly support GIFs as they only get updated with an OS update.
I would highly recommend checking out 3rd party SMS apps that get more regular updates/features.
Android Messages
Textra
I would also love gif search option and for some reason on my Galaxy S7 when I go to add it to a text message instead of just adding it, it makes me put a recipient in a whole new message and send it. Maybe it's just me? Or the phone idk.

Jk just saw others saying the same. Lol. So it's probably my stock texting app?
Great job, guys. Now for Searchable gifs!
I'd like to add my vote for searchable gifs, and also for recent or favorite gif tab. Keep up the excellent work!
