Few problems with Chinese input
1. Fuzzy Chinese can't be turned off. I already turned off all the fuzzy options but still, when I type in jianpin, it turns into one fuzzy Chinese character. For example, if I type "gsm", it returns 干 instead of 干什么。
2. The input never learns new words. Same example as above, I've typed "gsm" so many times but it still doesn't remember what I what it to be.
3. A little improvement would be great : when I type one character, in the bar that I can choose characters from, there are only 4 choices in a row. It would be better if one single character can take less space and make more characters in a row.
Hello Bella,
This is Alpert, a native Chinese speaker in this forum. Allow me to take your case.
1. Fuzzy Pinyin is not autocorrect. You got confused on this. And yes, I admit SwiftKey has a bad support for typing the initial letters then suggesting words.
2. That's the Chinese personalization engine problem. We haven't updated it for a longtime. I'll let the mods team know.
3. That depends on if you're typing a character or a word even a small phrase. It depends also on your screen size and resolution. For example I have HTC 10 and if one character typed, I can get 5 to 6 suggestions on the prediction bar. If it's a phrase, I can get at most 3 suggestions. More characters, the taping aera takes more space.
It's good to see Chinese users posting here! If you or your friends have suggestions and feedbacks, please post in this forum, I will take care of them. BTW, I believe there's Chinese typing experience optimization on going, I just don't have the release date yet. I'll keep an eye it.
Happy typing.
Alpert
Even after a year, the Chinese input and the vocab fuzzy is not impressive at all.
The Cantonese input is incorrect, it gives random suggestions that sound similar to the pinyin I typed. For example, if I typed gondongwa, it gives me random words like 講當或,instead of more correct suggestion like 廣東話.
I suggest Swiftkey to take a look at Google Cantonese Input app, although it's no longer on PlayStore, you can still find it somewhere on internet. Their suggestions of words are more accurate.
If you are going to make this feature public then take it more serious with it.
The Second Problem Still Not fix now.
