    Hi Tomer,

Can you tell me what exact model # your device is. This should be found in device settings > About phone.

Can you also try removing SwiftKey from any battery optimization features your Samsung device may offer.

I've been having the same issue lately, but I'm sad to say that it is not related to SwiftKey, because I switch to Samsung keyboard and the same thing happens. Also, I have a note 4. If you Google this issue, a lot of people are having it, but the universal solution is to change a setting on an app that I don't have, so I don't know what to do.

    Hi Victor,

What app and what setting are people suggesting to change?

Clean Master is the app, iswipe the option. Only that I don't have Clean Master installed.

Of the many, many posts about people having this issue, the only ones I found where people reported the issue fixed are those who changed something in that setting of the app. I guess if one doesn't have Clean Master there's no solution. Unreal.

    Hi Victor,

I personally don't trust that app. I would not bother messing with it if I were you, but it is your own call.

We'll also look into what we can find out about this issue.

I have no intention to install it. I'm just saying that the only people who reported that the issue was fixed was those who had that app and were able to toggle some setting in it.

I have exactly the same issue. If the keyboard is open when phone times out or power pressed then it is still there when phone is woken up, covering up the unlock pattern dots. Have to rely on fingerprints to get in which doesn't always work well if raining etc.

@David Hall - the problem went away for me and if I'm not mistaken, it was another app that was keeping SwiftKey up. And if I'm not mistaken, that app was ES File Explorer. Do you have that app installed, by any chance? Again it's been a while so I don't remember exactly how the problem went away for me.

    @Victor,

This is interesting news to me. I wonder if it works for others.

On a side note, we have been doing some deep diving into general performance and lag.

I believe we've been making some serious progress, these fixes aren't out yet. We are hoping this also helps with this issue among others.

It's not SwiftKey. Just go to ES File Explorer and find ES Swipe on the menu (top left), then turn it off. Voila! I just did it. Thank God!

Is ES File explorer an app that comes stock with these devices or something that you download?

    This is interesting information though.

@Ryan P - it's an app downloaded from the Play Store. It's been around for years, but as of late they added so much "functionality" that evidently they messed up. It used to be a file explorer, period. But now it has a gazillion other things. You can try it for yourself, it's safe.

I went and checked and saw it was a downloaded app.

So you're saying by turning off their gesture feature it helps SwiftKey not lock up?

When i downloaded the app, this feature was off by default.

I personally use Astro File manager. Clean and simple and looks way less complicated than ES.

Hey there! I've been having the exact same issue, however, on my Galaxy S6 Edge, neither the mentioned ES File Manager nor the Clean Master app (mentioned in another thread) are installed on my phone. Any idea what else could be the issue?

Don't worry, you can easily resolve this problem. firstly restart the phone and press the hold button and easily set the button and use it! CCleaner Customer Support provides a valuable reason to resolve this problem. orderly and well-managed information I am really satisfied with this blog.

I just experienced this issue today. S7 Edge running Android 7.0.My particular version of SwiftKey (7.0.0.16) was recently updated, in case that's relevant.

After powering down today and rebooting, I needed to enter my password in order to log into my phone. I use thumbprint recognition the rest of the time, but must always enter my PW after a reboot. Instead of seeing the normal SwiftKey keyboard, however, I was faced with an all black block where the keyboard should be. The keyboard was there, but not visible! I was able to enter characters, but I had to guess their location. I was finally able to log on by pressing the all-black keyboard where I believed each key would be in order to enter my password (and not pressing where I thought the enter key would be until I knew that I had the PW correct).

Now that I am able to use my phone, SwiftKey is behaving normally.

I have Clean Master installed, but the iSwipe is already toggled off (by default, and I just checked it). I do not have ES File Manager installed. Any other suggestions for how to resolve this issue?

The comment above should be removed. It is, at best, inaccurate and deceipt to "get customers". At worst, something malicious.
