In landscape mode SwiftKey overlays input dialogs with its own white input box
When in portrait mod , SwiftKey functions properly, but in landscape mode it overlays the input dialog with a blinding white input box that fills the entire top of the screen. It occurs with authentication dialogs, when entering an app review in Google Play store, etc. This is quite a shock to the eyes when working in dark mode.
The problem doesn't occur with Samsung keyboard.
Devices :
- Samsung Galaxy S8+, Android 8
- Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e, Android 9
still no fix. Android 12 and yet cant use swiftkey in landscape mode
Hi Yaqz101, sorry for the trouble. Could you please help us with your SwiftKey app version?
Could you please let us know if the issue is happening on any particular apps or everywhere? If it is happening on only one app. Please help us with the app name and version number? Thank you!
Is this still possible to get support in this post or should I start a new one? I posted this issue two years ago and never received a response. Two months ago, someone else commented that the issue is still happening and they did get a response, but never followed up. Now the person who responded's account has been deleted.
I can provide additional details. The issue is relatively rare, but just happened to me again in the last 24 hours. In certain Android apps, Swiftkey can lose it's themed keyboard UI and display a blinding white, full-screen UI which is quite shocking when using dark mode at night.
I was able to duplicate this behavior in the Joey reddit app when editing a comment and in Bitwarden app while trying to enter login info on a website using Samsung Internet and/or Edge Android mobile browsers on my Galaxy Tab S6. Let me know if you need any more details.
Hi Mike Glenn Sorry for the trouble, while we investigating on this issue, could you please help us with the Screenshot of the issue, so that it would be easy to understand. Feel free to write to us at https://support.swiftkey.com/hc/en-us/requests/new with any suggestions or feature requests you want to share.
As requested, here are some screenshots. In this example I'm editing a comment in the Joey reddit app on Android. Swiftkey fails to maintain the dark theme. The is repeatable. I also want to reiterate that the problem occurs in other apps (not only Joey). Another example is when manually entering a login information in a password field in a browser such Samsung Internet.
Here's another example of the issue to show it's not just in one app. This example is renaming a file in OneDrive. My tablet is also in Light Mode in this example. But when it’s in night mode, SwiftKey would still have this blinding white background.
